Does anyone have any experiences to share about the Port Orleans Resort? We are considering staying there as well as possibly at the Holiday Inn Family/Kid Suites Hotel outside of Disney. If anyone has any experience at either place, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.

So your giving up on Fort Wilderness?

Both FQ and Riverside are great places to stay for the price. French Quarter is nice and compact, not too much walking. Great theming, worth the price of a nite.

Riverside, I think is the better of the two, the food court is the bomb. And Riverside has the better arcade.

Our family has stayed at Port Orleans - I guess it's the French Quarter now - eight times. We always LOVED it! It had a great food court and a nice family restaurant, but I understand those are closed now; the food court at Riverside now services the two combined resorts.

thanks for advice on PO

Haven't given up on the Wilderness Cabins, just exploring our options. Leaning towards getting 2 rooms at PO instead of a cabin, but not sure yet. From everything I;ve read on this board and the DIS Board, it sounds like the PO resort is lovely.

Thanks to all who responded and if anyone else has any other info on PO, I would love to hear it!

We stayed to Dixie Landings (now PO- Riverside) our last visit and just loved it. It was very quiet, we saw a lot of ducks, lizards, birds, etc along the pathways, and the pool area was wonderful.. The kids liked the slide and waterfall at the pool.. We also caught the bus over to Port Orleans and played in their pool for a while too. The food court and gift shops are better at Riverside, IMO.

Riverside

Have stayed in Riverside a couple of times and consider it my favorite moderate resort. Despite all the people the walk through the resort is always peaceful.

Heading for the great escape.
I love the resort. The rooms are standard, but the resort setting pools and food court are all excellent. The best is if the boats are back running to DTD they make the whole stay. We are planning to go next year I had wanted to stay at the Contempory but the family want to go back to the Riverside and the Biou (?). Damn all that thinking abot it youve made me want to go back right now:)

There is still a food court at French Quarter. Eash resort still has all of its old amenities they just share a name. The only thing that isn't still there is the French Quarter full service restaurant.

i agree with eveybody else about po riverside but here r some of my comments:

Stayed there 4 yrs ago with just me & my daughter. The room was nice & clean but nothing outstanding. We only were in the room for sleeping anyway! I think the room we stayed in had 2 pedestal sinks which is a must in the morning!

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. I believe they did get an award. We loved the waterwheel and got a kick out of the ducks swimming in the river... The theme pool is very nice but only swam in it once for 45 minutes!

The food court I think is as good as some of the deluxe resorts. They seemed to have alot of variety. Very little lines to get your food and everything seemed to be running very smoothly and this is during busy lunch/ dinner hrs. We didn't eat in their restaurant but have been told it's very good too! The refillable mugs was a good deal for us as we usually had at least 1 meal at po food court throughtout the day.

a great perk at po is the riverboat ride to dd disney. This is a must to do and one of our favoirtes. They will reopen 3/24!

I also liked how quite & peaceful the resort was. After comming back from a very busy day in the world it was nice to come home to someplace that felt like home.

We are going back in May with our entire family which consists of 5 and got a very good deal using the code at mousesavers.com. It's worth checking out!!

Have a great trip
