Port Orleans or Animal Kingdom Lodge?

Booked 2 weeks in September 2020 yesterday at AKL - paid about £450 ($580) extra over the 2 PO resorts (full dining plan at both) Have I made the right choice? :)
$580 total, yeah you did great mate! AKL has always been one of our favorite resorts. Now even if you got a standard room, worth asking you can get an animal view, they will probably give you one anyway if there are any available.

Great, thanks! I’ve already requested a room with a view, and i’ll have to try and be persuasive to the cast member at check in!

Definitely the right choice. I’m a Port Orleans Riverside fan but I don’t rate the dining there. AKL is probably one of the best places on property when it comes to food.

We booked AKL too for next September. Also only £450 more or so to go with the Lodge over Port Orleans yet you get the regular DDP rather than the quick service plan so it was a no brainier for us

Awesome. The AKL theming is so unique too - it’ll certainly feel like an escape too, especially being there for 2 weeks. That amount of money felt too good to turn down a deluxe upgrade

Absolutely. My husband has never stayed on property and when we first looked at going for 2021, we were thinking POP but with the free dining, we moved our plans to next year and Port Orleans Riverside. For a trivial amount we are thrilled to now be at a deluxe.

We’ve requested an ‘obscure view’ which doesn’t cost more than standard but may work my magic at check in for a savanna room

We loved All Star Music last year but felt it didn’t lend itself to relaxing pool days! Yes we’re paying more for AKL lodge but we think it give us more options for non-park days.

I’ve requested a partial Savanna view so we’ll see if I get Zebras or Zebra Crossings!

AKL is such a beautiful place, you won't regret it at all. The pool and kids play area at Kidani is a place we can, and have, spent all day at. Even if you only see a squirrel and a few mosquitos from your room, there are plenty of places to view the animals, and we would stay there even without any view because the resort is so unique and beautiful.

Sanaa was so good we visited twice on the last trip! The pre-meal walk on the viewing platform is just so unique!

Great deal; you will not be disappointed. We upgraded our room last July from POFQ to AKL savanna view with bunk beds and only paid a difference of about $500. The view was spectacular, giraffes every day right out front of our balcony. Even if you don’t get a SV there are multiple viewing stations throughout the resort that you can go sit and watch the animals. These were the animals we saw on the daily during our stay.
