Can someone help me with the details of the internal shuttle between Port Orleans FC & POR shuttle?
Can't seem to find info about this service.

Does it leave from the main bus stop at French Quarter?

How often does it leave?

Where does it stop at POR?

What hours does it operate?

How often does it pick-up/drop off?

How long is the journey?

Is it a regular Disney Bus or Van?

Do you tip?

Thanks!

To my knowledge there is not internal shuttle between the 2 resorts as they actually but into each other. You can walk from the farthest point in POFQ to the farthest point in PORS in about 15-20 minutes.

The closest thing they have to a shuttle is the boat that goes to DTD. It will stop at POFQ, go to PORS then back to POFQ

We stayed at PORS in October 2012 and there was no such thing as an internal shuttle.

We did walk the Sassagoula River path that extends between the resorts. It took 10 minutes or so to get from the front entrance to POFQ to the "mansions" section of PORS. (We couldn't seem to catch a bus to PORS from the MK one day, and after seeing 2 POFQ buses come and go and a third pull up to the station, we thought, "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" and took the POFQ bus. I'm glad we did, as it was a scenic and serene walk to PORS, and we got a chance to see POFQ.)

We also took the DTD ferry, which departs from PORS every 20 minutes or less. It then heads to POFQ (5 minutes away, as I recall), to DTD, and then revisits the same stops in reverse.

I suppose if you wanted more direct transportation, you could always call a cab, but the Sassagoula River path and/or ferry are lovely ways to go.

It is so confusing. I saw this on the fan sight for PO.
Reminder: The French Quarter “Doubloon Lagoon” pool area is closed for refurbishment work until approx 28 February 2014, so activities will take place in the courtyard there instead of the pool. The pool bar and hot tub are closed too. For those who want to swim, there is a free shuttle service which takes guests directly over to the Riverside pool on Ol’ Man Island, and all guests can use the five quiet pools too.

and then from it said this

People staying at French Quarter can take a shuttle bus to Riverside until 11 a.m. to take advantage of the larger breakfast menu there. Oct 2013

I keep finding little blurbs but nothing that goes into any details. Like it is a secret.

It sounds temporary, which would explain the mystery.

The second one was months before the pool rehab. Strange.

Or maybe something they don't want to broadcast? Hidden Tip kinda thing?
Hard to say. Either way, a shuttle would potentially be worse than simply walking depending on where your room is. If you were all the way out in building 1, the walk to the pool at PORS is right at .6 miles. That is about a 10-15 minute walk. About the only way the shuttle will be faster is if it was waiting for you at the lobby and left the second you got on board.

If you plan on using the pool at PORS a lot, I would request building 7 at POFQ. That will almost put you closer to the main pool and lobby of PORS than some of the rooms at PORS.

I've only done short trips at FQ over the past few years. Longer stays at POR. Now/currently the room discount is for the FQ or CB and FQ is easier on the feet that CB by far. We get assigned a room (usually the fartherest room from main building,) so requests are out of the question. It is only the Food Court and Lounge I care about, a pool is a pool to us and actually I like FQ hot tub better.

The .6 miles, is that were the two sister resorts touch or is that the main building to main building?

That is building 1 at POFQ (the farthest away from PORS, so your worse case scenario) to the main pool at PORS. The lobby and bar would be a little less. You can always request a particular building no matter how you book. Just tell them you want to be as close to PORS as possible.

If you stayed at POFQ could you still use the pool @ PORS even when the refurb is done since both are technically PO or are they subject to the "no use by outside guests" rule also?
My TA sold it to me this way but........always best to ask all of you!

Have returned from our trip and thought I'd update.

The internal shuttle for moving guests from the FC to POR is the Downtown Disney bus. It goes first to POR and then to DTD.

Also after 11am the Ferry does take you to and from POR. Note: When towards evening when both piers are busy and there is a queue for the ferry, if you are leaving POR and heading to FQ instead of DTD they skipper will take you before others. They will not fill a ferry at POR because they need to pick up passengers also at the FQ. But if you are going to get off at the FQ they will take you without waiting through the entire queue.

I always try to request building 2 at POFQ...towards the lobby...can't beat it.

But to stay on topic...never heard of a bus shuttle...guessing it was temporary.

If you read my post a few up it turns out it is a permanent shuttle solution. DTD bus FC to POR.

We were in building 6 and I loved it. So close to QS beverages, out the backside of 6 close to ferry or pool, if you walk a diagonal out of the front of building 6 past frog pond towards parking lot you wind up right at bus stop through back sidewalk and an easier walk to or from POR. It was like we were in the HUB building.

Sorry, didn't see your post! Yeah that would be nice too! I don't think I have ever walked to POR though. I know it's not far, just never had the desire...we stayed over there once...I hated the place...seemed like everything was so spread out. Give me cozy POFQ any day of the week.

We only walked it once this trip. I actually pro and cons like POR far more. The food and choices are far superior to FQ, it is staffed more adequately. The store and the lounge are huge and Bob is the greatest with his show.
I like how compact the FQ is but this time we almost always had to share buses to our destinations with POR so the bus issue was not a plus at a slower time at the FQ. Often we were the last stop and had to stand on the buses. We were first only on the DTD run. In the morning though we did get our own bus to the MK but not later in the day. If our buses though were not full we picked up POR bus stops 3 & 4 at POR. The hot tub at FQ is far superior theming, quaint, but the lobby area though pretty doesn't offer much.

We Grand Opened Port Orleans in 1991 and then Grand Opened Dixie Landings (POR) in 1992. We love them both. We have stayed at both the Caribbean and the Coronado but for 2 decades we call Port Orleans Home. My favorite is the Mansions in Riverside.

We will have to agree to disagree on that then! But I am with you...I've been to a few different moderates...and Port Orleans is still the winner.
