We are 177 days out from our next trip. We are staying at POR (our first stay at a moderate), and we are requesting, both on our booking and when we do online check-in, a room in the Magnolia Bend area (we have booked a garden view room). Is there a good chance that we may get this? If we don't, is it really that far of a walk from a room in the Alligator Bayou area to the main buildings? Our previous stays were at AoA and Pop, so we didn't have a long walk to get anywhere in those resorts. For 6 days of our stay, we will be eating breakfast at Riverside Mill before heading out to the parks, so we will be making that walk almost every day.

I think you have a good chance of getting a room in the Magnolia Bend if you request a certain area or building. I preferred building 85 because it was close to the east depot and the bridge to Old Man Island so it was easy to get to the lobby. There are only 2 buildings in the Magnolia Bend section that is a regular mansion building - 80 and 85. The other 2 buildings 90 and 95 house the royal rooms. Some rooms in Alligator Bayou can be a longer walk to the lobby but not all. The closer buildings are in a more expensive preferred room category but rooms in buildings 16, 26, and 38 aren't too far. If you haven't already, I suggest looking at www.portorleans.org, a fan's unofficial website. They have a lot of resources that would be helpful to someone staying at POR for the first time.
