Pop Century Tips?

I know that Pop Century is one of the "value" resorts, but still... it was all we could afford in our package, and I'm not sure how much time we're going to spend in the room anyway between being in the parks, visiting with friends who live nearby, and going to Downtown Disney for late nights ;)

Nevertheless, any tips/suggestions? We are staying 6 nights.

We stayed there in 2'011, and enjoyed the stay! We also enjoyed the food at the food court there.
We wanted a quieter area, so we requested the 70's section, top floor, with a river view. We.liked that section and it wasn't too far to walk to the food court, busses, or Hippy Dippy Pool. Very nice.

We did have a problem with a noisy neighbor one night. We called the front desk about it and the issue was resolved quickly. We would recommend the Pop Century to others as well.

Also, one night coming back from MK at closing time, there was a very long line for the bus and we thought it would take a really long time to get back, but they started running the busses two at a time and we got back sooner than expected. Good luck and have a great trip!

When you do online check-in, request a room that's close to transportation. That should put you near the lobby, gift shop, and buses. Or you can request the 60's or 70's area, which is closest to transportation.

If you want to explore Art of Animation, the two resorts are connected.

If you opt to go swimming, for values, you will need to bring bath towels or your own towels.

The food court gets crowded at the peak times, so try to avoid it. It is also very loud in there during those peak times.

We like the 60's section and request a room with a lake view.

The only pool that is open late is the main Hippy Dippy pool. There are signs about quiet hours, but one time we went in that pool after midnight, there were some rambunctious kids in there who weren't being quiet.

Expect that the rooms will be small so you aren't disappointed. Nice, but small.

The grounds are big, so if you may be doing a bit of walking to get where you want to go. Last time we went, the Bus waiting area wasn't covered, so be prepared to stand in the sun while you wait if you are doing buses.

....if you want "quiet" and a bit secluded ....but a nice seclusion with lotsa' foliage in front of you ....the 50's Bldg #1 is good. We were in Rm 1114 ...first floor ....facing the main hall ...and it was just me and my wife for that short (3 day) stay. It's close to the pool ....close to the food ...close to the bar ....close to the buses .....but quiet.

.....of course if you want the real "action" resort feeling ...opt for a preferred room in the 60's Bldg ...poolside (what we always get ..as a family ...3 or 4 of us).

....the rooms were renovated a few yrs ago ...so they're nice.

....the A/C is a pain in the if you like the room cold. It'll keep shutting down if there is no one in the room (motion sensor) ...but there is a way to override it ...just Google it.

I suggest that you pay for a preferred room. We stayed in one in the 60's section, not poolside(quieter) on both of our trips in 09' & 12'. It's close to everything; pool, main building(food!), bus stops, & the outdoor movies.

We thought Pop was great. We spent no more than midnight til 7am in the room everyday, werein the 70s building in a standard, non-preferred room, and had a 5 minute walk to the main building for breakfast in the mornings. It was clean and convenient.

We stayed in the 70's in January on the top floor and loved it. We could see the characters in flight balloon at DTD and we were super close to the food court and the busses. Honestly we've stayed elsewhere in the world and POPs our place. The food court is very good, transportation is way better than some of the moderates, we've never had any noise problems, and it is what it is. We would much rather stay at POP and stay for extra days. We only use the resorts as a place to shower and sleep, the rest of the time is in the parks. The staff arranged for lots of animal towels for the room, has always been super helpful, and the concierge is just as awesome as at the higher priced hotels. It is a big resort but we walked way farther at Port Orleans just for a bite or a soda than we ever have at POP. Another plus is its super close to the studios, EPCOT, and DTD.

Perfect! Our timing may look a little different... we will probably be spending quite a bit of time out at DTD late at night, or hopefully taking a late night dip in the pool on occasion, and we definitely will still be dead to the world at 7 am because we are both night owls lol. But it sounds like the basic premise will still be the same, since we do plan to spend most of our time out and about.

Awesome! That's what I thought too... pay a little less for the room and be able to afford more time on vacation. Thanks!

Everyone tips are great me being and Pop Vet ( stayed there more then 10 times ) i would HIGHLY recommend staying in the 80's or 90's there a nice pool as well as nice and quiet. Also when you stay there you dont have to make a long walk all the way from the lobby to the room you can get to the park buses from the parking lot right next to the 90s section. I have loved Pop and i find that there buses come rather quick as well. Another Pop tip is GO to there Quick Service they have GREAT options and snacks and everything is alway GREAT. If you wanna have a more livly time at the hotel one night the Hippy Dippy Pool has fun music and games and the SUNSET are the best there . It seem like its just the two of you and on the bride ( on the way to Art Of Animation ( about 5 min walk from lobby) the fireworks can be seen at night there :) ( Romantic Thought ) HAVE A GREAT TIME
