We are going to get there on the 21st. Does anyone know if the splash pad area there is open? Is there a playground area for the kids? Do they have movies by the pool every night? Is there a place where we can buy large boxes of cereal? We fly in and will get to the resort around 9:30am, any chance we will get a room right away?

Can't wait to get there.

Don't know about the splash pad or large boxes of cereal (wouldn't count on that one but don't know for sure), but there is a modest playground and movies on the lawn between the pool and food court each night. We usually arrive very early in the morning and have never had a problem getting a room, but it depends on how crowded the resort is. I wouldn't count on it being ready - I would plan on spending some time in the parks right off the bat just in case.

Goofys splash area will be open they have cereal but not large its a gamble about the room some times they are ready some times they are not

The DVC resorts would stock larger boxes of cereal, I think the other resorts would have the single serve sizes. The prices at the DVC resorts are $4.95 for a 14oz Frosted Flakes, 9oz Rice Krispies, 15oz Raisin Bran. 10 pk "Variety Pack" - $7.95, 8 pk "Fun Pack" - $6.95. Those are accurate for AKL from 2/8/12. I would imagine the Hess near DTD would also stock a similar selection of basics. You could always just stick a box of cereal in your carry on luggage.

As posted, the rooms are as available. Totally depends on how many rooms emptied out the night before, and if any of them meet your room type, location, requests, etc. At the worst you drop your luggage with bell services and go to DTD or a park for a few hours.

They do have a splash area but I don't recall them having a playground. They do show movies at night by the pool. Sometimes we do get there earlier than 3:00 and we just ask if there is a room available. If not, you can always check your bags in at the front desk and they will hold them there for you. That way you can enjoy the resort or park and just check back periodically to see if your room is available. I love Pop. I hope you all have a great trip!

Not sure about the splash pad because it was not working when we were there last year or cereal but there is a small playground and yes they do movies. We got our room(s) by 10am when we went last year

When we went in May the goofy splash pad was closed down and the goofy was taken out of there and in the past it was bearly ever open. They don't sell large boxes of cereal and they do have movies outside nightly.There is a playground just down from the goofy splash area.
