Pop Century Questions

My fiance' and I have been to WDW many times but this June will be our first time to Pop Century. I have be reading all the posts lately and I am concerned about the parking situation.
:veryconfu

How far is the parking? We are used to walking a lot at WDW so walking isn't an issue but if it's more than one or two blocks, well with all the luggage it will be rough.

Has anyone had the Mom's meals? They look like TV dinners but are they any good?

If we elect to take the bus instead of driving to the parks is it really crowded? I know at the All Stars the bus goes to all three resourts. Does the bus for PC only go to PC?

It's been two years since we have been back to see "The Mouse" and I am so excited. I think I will be like the TV comercial "I'm too excited to sleep!".

Well the term "far" is relative. However, of the ten buildings the 50's "B" building ranks 7th in overall proximity to Classic Hall (based upon actual distance). The 80's buildings (2) and the 90's building (1) are the only other buildings farther from Classic Hall.

In short, there are six buildings that are close to Classic Hall and four buildings that are not close to Classic Hall.

Also, the 50's buildings (3) have two very tiny parking lots.

Just got back today from Pop Century. :sohappy:

We stayed in the 50's "C" building. Not a long walk to anything, on the back side (Lake view!!!), and it was totally quiet. Thermostats worked fine, housekeeping left much to be desired, but overall a pleasant experience.

More tomorrow. Much sleep needed tonight.

Uhhhhh " NOT" in our room!

It was VERY hot and stuffy while we were sleeping! We tried to get the fan to go on to move the air, but it will/does not work, either!

I sure hope this has been changed! We were there in Jan and it was cool outside but we found it very uncomfortable!! inside. ( the heat works really well ) Even when it went on with all of the showers-- humidity, It does not stay on-- The only way we got it to go on -- when we woke up from the stale hot air/heat, was to get up and move around the room! NOT very helpful when you are trying to sleep to have to wake up sweating from the heat!

I would have opened the window but-- Ha Ha they do not open-- SOoooooooooooooo we had the door open in the middle of the night trying to get some air! ( even though it was 60 outside, felt like 80 inside!! ) Owwww not a pretty sight
I had the same problem when I stayed at Pop Century in January. I had to take a shower at 3am, because I was sweating so bad! I also had to open the door a lot during the night to try to cool down the room (unsuccessfully). I stayed in the '60's section poolside. The next day, my family called maintenance and they lowered our thermostat temperature to 60F!!!! The thermostats normally go down to only 65F, but maintenance lowered ours on request. Trust me, getting the thermostat lowered helped A LOT!!!

As for the bus service at Pop Century, overall it was pretty good. I never went to any of the parks at opening time, but I am assuming that there is a crowd at this time. My trip started the day after New Year's, and the parks were pretty crowded. I normally took the buses to the parks at 10-11am and they were never crowded. The only time the buses were crowded was at park closings (especially MK & Epcot) and Downtown Disney at night. The buses showed up every 10-20 minutes for most of the parks. I had to wait 30 minutes twice for MK. I went to DD four times at different times during the day, and I had to wait 40 minutes each time!!! I'm guessing that the bus situation is better now, since my trip was 2 1/2 weeks after the resort opened and they probably did not have a bus plan ironed out.

We are currently staying at Pop Century in the 1950's section. Overall the place has been great. Parking is a bit tricky. Their layout to the buildings is a bit confusing.

The food court is similar to the All Stars.

We arrive in 3 weeks, 2days and a few hours and I can't wait to check out Pop Century. We will have rental vans this trip....aside from 60's are 50's and 70's both fairly close? I am imagining Dalmation & Toy Story at Movies. Is this a fairly good guestamate?

side note, I am thinking instead of looking for hidden Mickeys I'll have all 6 of the kids looking for Hidden Tyler! :)

The 70's and the 50's (Bldg. 1 and 3) are similar to Toy Story and Dalmatians. Bldg 2 of the 50's is between Dalmatians and Mighty Ducks. Imagine if there was only one Duck building right at the end of the Dalmatian buildings (instead of the angles).

Which buildings and wings face towards Epcot or MGM? Can fire works be seen from any of the buildings? Which wings give you a view of these?

You can see 'Wishes' from the 50's "C" building, if you watch carefully. You can hear the Illuminations fireworks from anywhere.
