Walt Disney World Resort Announces Dec. 14 Opening Date for Disney's Pop Century Resort

I can start booking at the POP CENTURY now! Please call for your reservations today.

Travel agents can now book reservations for Disney's newest value-priced resort - Disney's Pop Century Resort. Opening Dec. 14, 2003, the 2,880-room, first phase of Disney's Pop Century Resort will send clients on a trip through American popular culture spanning the 20th Century.

The whimsical resort will feature two phases - the Legendary Years of the 1900s-1940s and the Classic Years of the 1950s-1990s.

Located near Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex, Disney's Pop Century Resort will include two 5,000-square-foot arcades; Disney's first integrated food, beverage and shopping area; eight courtyards; six pools in wildly-fun shapes; two playgrounds; and recreational paths for riding surrey bikes around Hourglass Lake.

After completion, Disney's Pop Century Resort will join Disney's All-Star Resorts in offering a combined total of more than 11,500 rooms in the value category, priced from $77-$109 per room, per night.

I booked my stay there this evening with CRO! I will be staying the first night of our stay at ASSp, but 12/14 and the week that follows will be spent at Pop Century! I was so excited when I called CRO tonight, I had the CM laughing at me. She thanked me for making her laugh. I have never been part of opening day for anything other than the Braves. I can't wait to see what Disney does for those of us who break in the rooms first. lol Mickey

Plus you'll be getting "hitched" and on your honeymoon! Wow! It's building up to be a really great trip for you!

How fun!

Hey Rob! Looks like we actually will be doing the ceremony here in Atlanta with a lady that I work with playing the role of the Rev. I had forgotten that Veronica really is a preacher. She cuts up so much that I sometimes forget that she's serious about it. lol

The trip in December will be more or less a honeymoon trip. We spend the first 4 nights with my honey's family and then we go to Orlando. This gives her family time and me an ulcer, but I digress. j/k lol My out-laws, Launda and Tom, will be keeping our Chihuahuas while we vacation in Orlando. After a week at WDW, we will come back through Deland, pickup the dogs and head home, just in time for each of us to cover holiday shifts at our jobs. lol

I can't freakin' wait! We leave in just 33 short weeks! Mickey

I hope you have a great time at Gay Days. Gabby and I have never been at that time. We have been in March & September together. Gabby is from FL and has been to WDW many times. I too went several times before I graduated from high school, but it was a bit harder for me to get there being that we lived in TN and GA. I would love to go during Gay Days, but why oh why do we have to have Gay Pride stuff in the summer?!??! It's too freakin' hot for me. lol Mickey

Pam,

I'm thinking about heading down in January. What's your sense on crowds? I'd like to see Pop Century, but if everyone's going to be headed there, will All Stars be less crowded?

As far as crowds that will be booking at the new resort, I would suggest that you book early. I think that the crowds will be normal for that time of year in the parks, but I think that everyone will be booking the Pop Century because of the newness of it.

I think the All Stars will be less crowded with the new resort opening up. But like I said, if you really want to stay there, I would book it now. I did hear a rumor that Disney was thinking of closing all of PO for renovations with the opening of the new resort. But like I said I heard a rumor, nothing definate.

I would book a room there. You can always change your dates. (as long as there is availability) If you need any more help, just ask.

Thanks! I've got to find out if what my son's schedule will be like and I'll contact you when I've got a tentative date.(won't be much for you though since we'll probably drive down) We'll probably just stay at All Stars this year to avoid the crowds and try Pop Century 2005 when the excitement has died down some. (at least that's my thinking, Ryan may have different ideas)
