POP Century Building...

I was reading in the PassPorter Guide to WDW 2006 and they said the best PC building to stay in would be the 70s. I was thinking about staying in the 70's building A, on the 3rd or 4th floor. Would this be a good request to make?

I stayed on the 4th floor of the 70s with no problem. We were in the 'big wheel' building... not sure which building it was but the view was nice. really quiet and the room was of nice quality. Only thing i didnt like was the elevator was slow.

Remember....you can make all the REQUESTS you want, but none are guaranteed, so don't plan your trip or expectations around getting them.

I've stayed in 4 different areas (by chance!) of POP and enjoyed every section! I prefer the upper floors, but a lower floor over looking the lake was one of my quietest and most enjoyable stays. So much so that I found it funny that they charge a "premium" price to stay near the pool and snack bar - the loudest rooms on the property - and not the peaceful lakeview rooms.

Wherever you stay at POP you are sure to have a good time!

HAVE FUN!

We just stayed in the 70's bldg. We were on the 4th floor of the big wheel bldg. We had the next to last room closest to the food court. It was great. It was a bit far from the elevator but next to the stairs. It was the perfect location for us next to the food court and pool but with out paying the "preferred" price.

We had requested connecting rooms and to be in the 70's. When we checked in were were told we could only have 1 request granted. So we either had to get connecting rooms on 80's (or 90's), or rooms in the 70's, but 2 rooms away from each other. Having a baby with us we decided to stick with the 70's because it was closer to the lobby and that was more important to us. My suggestion is make all the requests you want but prioritze them in your mind so that when you check in if they can't all be granted you know which are more requests are more important.

I also remember reading a post by Laura that none of her requests were granted at All Stars. So there's always that chance too.

In our 3 previous value resort stays we have been lucky enough to get the building we requested. In September, we stayed in building 10 of the 70's, 2nd floor, 1st room right beside the Big Wheel. It's the same building Disney puts on their website for Pop Century. Anyway, it was quiet and a short walk to the food court/bus stop and Hippy Dippy Pool w/Goofy's Pop Jet area on the way.

I recently stayed at Pop in the 70s, but I stayed in the Mickey's Phone side. This was also wonderful. It was not a far walk from the food court (maybe 5 minutes, which is good for Pop) and since we were in the backside, we had a view of Hourglass Lake. It was absolutely beautiful. I would definitely stay there again. (If you want to see a pic of the view from my room, click on the "My Trip Report link. There's a great picture there.) So to sum it up: both sides of the 70s buildings are nice. :D

i stayed at PC and i was in the 70's building at the back facing the playground on the 4th floor, my side was the bike but i was the 4th door from the stairs. at night the view from the window was lovely coz i was facing the rubix cube and seeing that lit up at night was really nice. if you walk to the stairs on the 4th floor (my one was the cowboy 8-trac) you can see the epcot sign of a day and night. at new years you could hear the DJ at MGM and hear the crowd scream when it was new year american time.

i would never stay at pop century again. i prefer the all star resorts but others have different opinions, have yourself a good time and you decide.

I've never really been one to care which decade we get. We've been to the 50's, 60's, & 70's and they were all different but nice. There are certain parts of the complex with views of SSE, ToT, Downtown Orlando, and the unfinished Legendary building. Be sure to take walks through the resort to see all the theming as well!!

I've stayed in the 70's and 50's and liked both of them. The 50's does have it's own pool though and depending on the time of year that could be a plus. The only ones I wouldn't want would be the 80's or 90's as they are really far out.

Actually, I've also stayed in the 90s and it's not as far as it looks. We cut through the parking lot to get to the main hall and it took us just as long to walk from there as it did from the 70s.

Good point - the parking lots bring everything a little closer - all in all, it's fun to make a request and then see what you get when you get there!

I've stayed there twice, and both times pretty much got my request. My first trip I requested 50's so that I could see SSE, and that was the greatest location, close to everything and quiet!
My second time I requested 80's, just because I love the 80's, and we got the 90's.....it was a hike from the main enterance. We ended up walking through the parking lot, which I'm not sure Disney intended, but it worked.

I'd have to say request 70's or 50's, as they are the closest, without having to pay extra for the 60's.

Pop is awesome! You won't regret anywhere you stay.

I recently stayed in the Mickey Phone building on the 4th floor (in the 70's of course). It was nice and had a good location. If you are anywhere in the 50's-70's you are in good shape. You can get to all the important places quickly. The 80's and 90's are somewhat out of the way, but even they aren't too bad.

We just were there at Christmas and stayed in the 70s "B" building. We requested this and got it, along with our request to be on the 2nd floor and to have all 4 rooms we needed on the same floor together. My room was connected to my Mom & Dads and my brothers room was connected to his in-laws and although we didnt request this it really helped out. We were in the 8 track building and faced towards Epcot. You could actually see some of the fireworks. The food court and Hipp Dippy pool were pretty close, the bus stops arent to much of a hike, it was pretty quiet, but the parking lot was not very close at all. We only had rental cars for part of our visit so this was not a big concern. We really enjoyed this resort and would definately stay here again.

When I go in April, I would like to request the 80's building. Not only because we love the 80s, but I like the location. When we stayed at All-Star Sports, we stayed in the Homerun Hotel, and we loved the location because it was near the pool that was quieter than the loud and chaotic main pool. We also liked the location cuz whenever we got off the bus, we'd walk to the left towards our room instead of walking through the main building. It was kind of a shortcut. So the 80s building at Pop, I thought, was in a similar location.

We were in the 80's building, ground floor, only 3 doors from the Roger Rabbit icon and only a few steps from the computer pool. We cut through the buildings to get to the lobby faster and to get to the parking lot, just cut through the other 80's building and we were at the main parking lot.

I believe that the 60's is actually far out:lol:
