Pop & AoA - Pool Hopping

I could be wrong but I assume the bridge that was built to originally connect Pop Century with the "Legendary Years" buildings is still there (formerly known as Generation Gap Bridge)? If so, since the resorts are essentially "connected" is it considered "pool hopping" and thus against policy to stay at one and use the pools at the other?

AoA guests get bracelets similar to guests at Beach and Yacht Clubs. The pool is exclusive to AoA guests.

Blah I was afraid of that. My son desperately wants to stay in one of the new Cars suites but it's going to cost over a grand more to stay there vs. a value so I was thinking maybe I could at least give him a taste by staying at Pop and letting him swim over there. Oh well... I guess I have to make sure to save even more. LOL!

I can also recommend any of the All-Star resorts. And you can stay at All-Star Movies instead of AoA. But that's just me.

Oh yeah... no stranger to those. We've stayed at ASMo more than any other resort on property as, until they built AoA, it was my son's favorite because of the theming. :)

Is a split stay a possibility? Start at Pop or ASM and then spend the night/s at AoA?

Or there's always the LM rooms (asuming they will be open when you go). They aren't much more expensive than Pop and would let you use the Cars pool.

I'd love to do the LM rooms but I don't think my husband and son will be happy with me if I did. Though let me tell you... the point is an excellent one. I won't completely rule it out. :) Same with the split stay... something to consider though I honestly hate room swapping. I like to unpack and stay that way. LOL!

We wanted to stay in a Nemo suite. But in order to get free dining, we had to switch to a Lion King suite. My wife and kids don't like TLK (I'll pause while you all gasp). But once I explained that the rooms are all the same and we can still visit the Nemo pool, etc. they were fine with it.

I'd push for the LM rooms if I were you. It's basically an underwater themed room within walking distance of all that great Cars stuff they want to see.

We're not Cars fans, but I'll definitely swing by that part of the resort. It looks pretty awesome.

Thanks for the suggestion! It is a definite option for us! DS and DH both want so badly to stay in one of the suites (and if we do we may bring along some family) so my thought of even considering an alternative would probably get shot down even if it wasn't LM but a girl has to at least offer up some options. DH will quickly agree with something if I say it'll save us a grand. :)

The only reason we're staying in a suite this year is that my mom is coming with us and splitting the cost. Otherwise, we'd be saving a grand too.

I'd show them some pictures of the awesome Cars area and then say "All this can be yours if you're willing to put up with an under the sea themed room...that might have something to do with princesses... Hey look! Lightning McQueen!"

You could still walk over and explore the resort and eat there.

Yeah see if we bring my father and his wife along as we're thinking of doing (it'll be their first visit since 1992) we'll take the cost of the room and they have to cover their tickets and food. So... no saving for me in that regard but if I know my dad he'd insist on paying for some of it so who knows. :)

DH and DS have seen TONS of pics of the new resort (all areas open so far), the pools, the rooms, the restaurants etc. Come on... being around me how could they not? LOL! Anyway that's why they want to stay there so badly. :)

That is a bummer! Originally, mom was planning to stay in her own room. But when we realized we could get the discount on a suite for about the same price as separate rooms, we decided that was the way to go. If I was being stuck with the whole cost of the suite, sorry mom.

You could still walk over and explore the resort and eat there.

Yep, that's definitely an option.

But personally, I think a LM room that is brand new and includes access to the Cars pool (not to mention the Nemo and LM pools) is going to be better than an older Pop room and a hike across the bridge to see the Cars section.

I really doubt Ariel will make much of an appearance in the LM room anyway.

What it may come down to is the answer I get from my father when we tell him we want them to join us. If he says they can't swing it (they are financially a mess) or if I get any drama about them also bringing my step-sister's children (lonnnng story) then we'll probably consider the LM room since it'll give us all the benefits of staying on the AoA property (pool included). Now of course I say that and depending on what offers appear between now and then (we won't even be able to CONSIDER booking until our tax refund comes so figure February-ish) you never know. :)

I'm gonna say that's probably not allowed, especially with the wristbands. They used to let DVC holders go to any DVC resort to swim, and they put a stop to that. So between all the values, including AoA, I'd be surprised if they allow it.

Thanks. :) If you read the above someone confirmed they have wrist bands for the AoA pools. :)
