Don't know if anyone here has had experience like this but my son got burned pretty bad on his fingers during a marshmallow roast at our hotel. First of all they had NO first aid kit at the scene, then somebody walks out after 5 minutes with ice packs (which is one of the worst things you can put on a burn). After contacting the front desk they suggested we call 911 because there was nothing they could do because they had no medical staff or supplies. Luckily we were able to get advice from a nurse friend of ours and treated him ourselves with what little supplies were in the gift shop. The next day we tried to contact the manager to ask why there was no supplies or trained people on staff and of course no one was around and all we were told by the front desk was that they were sorry. After returning home we got in contact with Guest Relations and again we were told we're sorry and the "team" would look into it. I would have hoped a manager from the hotel would have called our room or stopped up to see how our son was doing but there was nothing !!! Does anyone have a number I can call to speak with somebody in management about this or another way to go about it ?

How do you get burned on your fingers roasting marshmallows? Aren't the marshmallows on a stick of some sort?
Not that it matters in all of this , but YES, the burning marshmallow fell off the stick when he pulled it out of the pit onto the back of his hand !!

Unfortunate and I hope he recovers, however this is hardly Disney's fault that your son isn't aware of the dangers of fire and handling hot objects. It is poor there was no first aid but still, it could have been avoided.

Personally, as soon as I received no satisfaction from the resort, I would have found the nearest Urgent Care facility and taken him there, many will even come and pick you up at the Disney resort, I used them before.

If I was in a theme park, I would have visited the First Aid center first, where a medically trained professional is on duty.

The front desk telling you to call 911 was most likely their standard procedure that protects them from being very liable in giving medical care.

Exactly, I'm not saying it was totally their fault for how it happened but just how prepared they were for something like that and their total lack of compassion. I mean, I've read post where somebody doesn't have enough towels or the carpet has a spot on it and they send somebody right up to fix it !! This is a 7 year old with a pretty bad burn !!

That's what we did the following day when we went to Animal Kingdom, we took him to the first aid station first thing and had the nurse look at it and re-bandage it.

We are talking about a 7 year-old here. If he wasn't given exact instructions on how to handle the stick and marshmallow, then, he is not at fault for such an accident. The cm's should have taken care of it immediately.
Since this is a regular activity at that resort, then the cm's should be trained in dealing with accidents. A melted marshmallow is like melted glue. It sticks to the skin and is extremely painful. Instinct causes a person to quickly pull it off which also pulls the skin off. I really feel sorry for your son.

So we excuse Disney staff for not being prepared but not a little kid that "doesn't know the dangersdof fire"? And shouldn't the ADULT staff members be aware of the " dangers of fire"?

I hope your child is okay, OP.

Thanks for your concern !! My thoughts exactly plus the fire pit they had was 2 1/2 feet high where you needed to lift the stick at an angle where something like this was bound to happen !

Thanks but after we sent letter to that address we were called back by a customer rep who wasn't anybody in authority, by her own admission, and was told they would "look into it"

This is standard procedure. What would you have done or expected differently if the person was in authority?

Your letter is in their system and has had notes attached to it for review.

I guess they just assume that parents will properly educate their children on the danger - and if that's not possible (perhaps due to age) - handle the potentially dangerous situation appropriately? Just sayin'.

Hope your son is okay though. And I would agree, it would be good of them to have a first aid kit handy and perhaps show a little more concern. Probably liability issues at play here.
