Hi we are staying at AKL for the first time this August and I would love some insight in their pool areas. It looks as if there are 2 pools on property and the one closest to the Kidani Village is the one with the better slide? Is this so? I have a 10 and 13 year old and wondered what pool is the best for them? They love the slides so I assumed the Kidani pool? Also if I am staying in Jambo House how far of a walk is the Kidani pool? Any and all opinions are appreciated!!

Hey! The slide is twice as long at Kidani, but Jambo also has a water slide and it's nice! Plus, if you're staying at Jambo House, it's either a 10-minute walk through a parking lot to get to Kidani or a bus ride. I'd say give Jambo's pool a shot, and if your kids aren't feeling it, you can scoot on over to Kidani.

Have so much fun in August! AKL is really the best.

We liked the pool area at Kidani is better than over at Jambo, but at the time my kids were younger than yours are now. Either pools are fun and have activities all day. However, there is only one small bar/food option at Kidani and a small lookout in the corner to one of the savannahs. The Jambo house pool is in the back of hotel near the savannahs, while the Kidani pool is in front of hotel which is why there is only a corner view of savannah.

I will say my son and I spotted 2 decent size gators in the pond in front of Kidani... but that was years ago...but I am sure there are still some there.

Also another tip in general is to check the community Hall activity calandar for the week you are there... if they are giving a presentation on one of the African countries, i would recommend it. They are presentations given by the cast members from the various African countries about their homelands. It was very interesting.

I found this that does some comparing of the 2 pool areas...

Our home resort is Kidani. We love the pool area. Our children are grown now in their twenties so we don't judge on child-friendly etc. However, if you are at one place and want to check out the other pool, you don't have to walk or wait for a bus. There is a passenger van shuttle going between both resorts all day long. We've used it many times. :)
