That is good to hear. I have 8 free tickets to a showing of it tomarrow from the Disney Visa. Too bad I we have to drive 25 miles north of here, but hey that is over $75 in free tickets! (They were giving out 4 per card holder in many citys. I got some along with a friend, who then was unable to go.)

Looking forward to it. Little PhD has been wanting to see this for a while. Her last movie was brother bear and the Piglet Movie. She did great in both of those.

I'm not planning to see it because I'm too old. But its great to see it get good reviews because its nice to see kids finally get some good quality entertainment. There have been so many kids movies comming out that aren't entertaining and has some innapropriate humor. Hopefully this movie will make some good money.

Well, take a little kid and you will never be too old.

The reviews may have been good, but its weekend box office intake wasn't....

1. Hitch - $45,300,000
2. Boogeyman - $10,800,000
3. Are We There Yet? - $8,500,000
4. Million Dollar Baby - $7,580,000
5. Pooh's Heffalump Movie - $6,011,000

Well, considering it is aimed at the under 7 crowd, that's not a bad showing.

Predictions had it about $12 million or so, especially since there really aren't any films for children playing right now. You should also take into account the opening weekends of other movies like this one (should have been a DTV release but thrown into theaters) that opened during the same time period:

The Tigger Movie - $9,427,532 (released on February 11th, 2000)
Return to Neverland - $11,889,631 (released on February 15th, 2002)
The Jungle Book 2 - $11,441,733 (released on February 14th, 2003)

However, with a production budget of only $20 million, this should be able to make its money back.

Well se saw it and everyone enjoyed it. Very cute, good movie for young kids. The heffalump (Lumpy) is really cute. Very endearing. Little PhD and Baby did great. (even Baby PhD enjoyed it.) :p

I am not suprized by the numbers. It is the weekend before Valentines day, this isn't exactly a date movie.

If you have a young kid and are looking for a movie to see, this is it. :animwink:

BTW the thing the kids really enjoyed the most was the projection the theater had on the floor. It was interactive and had balls, cars, pop corn and other things the kids could move if they "touched" it. Really fun, very Disney Like. They (Little PhD and 4 year old cousin) ran around for 45 min on it!

The theater we went to decided that "Son of the Mask" would be a great preview to show to the Heffalump crowd. I don't know why they show anything besides G rated previews or nothing at all in a G rated movie.

Well, Son of the Mask is a PG-rated film geared towards children, so that's probably why....

2003's Piglet's Big Movie also had an opening weekend of 6.0 million. The weekend's take for PHM is nothing spectacular, but comparable to the most recent Pooh movie.
