I havn't heard anything in ages about the battle for the legal rights for winnie. What is happening. I hope they don't loose the rights. Tiger is my favorate character!

They won't lose the rights, they aren't battling over that. Disney owns the rights to Winnie the Pooh now, they are being sued over money that they may owe to people who sold them the characters. When the contracts were signed for royalty issues with these people, there were no video's or DVD's. Because of this, there was no mention of it in the contract. As you probably know the Video and DVD department of Disney does fairly well. The people who signed the contract with Disney want to get royalties on the Video's and DVD's because they feel it is a part of the contract (even though not specifically stated). Disney disagrees though and says that they have no obligation to pay these people for the movie sales.

Don't worry about them losing the rights to the characters...it isn't going to happen. Disney owns those characters now. Even if it was possible those people wouldn't be dumb enough to take Pooh away from Disney. They still receive royalties from the Disney company and without Disney they will get nothing. So they wouldn't be stupid enough to take pooh (if they could).
