Polynesian Villas- Lake View vs. Standard View Studio

Hi all! I am very excited to have booked a studio at the Polynesian Villas for our upcoming disneymoon this October! However, the only option available is the standard view studio as opposed to the lake view, which we would prefer much more. It just keeps saying on the website that that room and/or package is not available for my dates, party size etc. and to check back later. Would this have something to do with us just being 2 people for 3 nights? Does anyone think they may already be fully booked for these dates (10/17-10/20) or do they save them for DVC members (we are not) until it gets closer to the dates? Does anyone think there might be a chance we'd be able to upgrade to one of these units as it gets closer? Thank you for any input!

DVC has not declared all of the studios into the inventory yet, so those are available for cash bookings now. Since there aren't that many of the lake view studios, it is very likely that they are all booked. The declared inventory DVC rooms would only be available for DVC members until much closer to your trip, and it is still highly unlikely that any lake view studios will be available. Sorry, but you can always keep looking to see if something opens up. Congratulations on the wedding!!

I am a DVC member. I just checked the availability and both Standard and Lake view studios are available to DVC members. DVC members who own at the Polynesian are the only ones who can book at the Poly from 7 months to 11 months out. After 7 months any DVC member can book a room there. The 7-month window for your travel dates starts on March 17. You may be able to get a Lake View after that.

Did you look into renting DVC points? David's Vacation Club Rentals seems to be very popular and very reputable. Their web site (http://www.dvcrequest.com) has all sorts of info on renting DVC points. I think it would be a lot cheaper to go that route too rather than going directly through Disney. And you still get all the benefits of booking directly through Disney like Magical Express, Extra Magic Hours, etc.

We are DVC members who made a cash reservation at Poly for a studio and all that was available was standard view, which ended up being the parking lot so I could keep an eye on my car, lol (and the monorail). Didn't have a problem because as you mentioned, we could always go down to the beach to watch Wishes.

One of these days I will understand how Disney Travel and DVC manage between them the inventory of DVC villas. As a DVC member, I can make a cash reservation through DVC who gets that inventory released to them from Disney Travel. DVC charges my card for the deposit, but only Disney Travel can take the payment for the balance and unless I have a card on file, it can only be done at check in.
