Polynesian or Beach Club (please choose and why)?

I booked fairytale package for me and my girlfriend for late October for both the Beach Club and Poly (Courtesy Hold). I have one week to decide which one to stay at. Geeeeeeez, decisions shouldnt be so hard. We stayed at the GF last year and got a great taste of the magic of the MK area. I figured we'd try something in the Epcot area (maybe) because we were at GF this past Feb, and maybe try something new? All of this aside, and if you didnt have preference of one theme park over another (you love them all), and if it were just you and your better half (no kids), which resort would you choose and why? Preferably from those who have stayed at both BC and Poly.

Many Many thanks in advance.

I have yet to stay at the Poly (i've visited), but i've stayed at the Beach Club and the Yacht Club. AT this point I would definitely stay at the Poly given all the raves i've read about here and on wdwig.com. I was quite happy when i stayed at the beach club the first time, i was upgraded to a pool view and would sit on balcony each morning to eat my breakfast. However, my friends were staying in a parking lot view and were not happy with the hotel. Not b.c. of the view necessarily but they just didn't feel there was anything special about the place. When I stayed a second time it was at the yacht club and although i enjoyed the decor a great deal more than the beach club, i really did feel the same way about both. The first time i was just so happy about staying at a deluxe hotel i didnt even think about it. I will say the pool at the bc/yc is excellent. And although i liked the pool at the poly with the volcano , it was a bit more cramped and crowded. Just my opinion.

well me being a monorail person, id stay at the poly.. plus ur right next to the transportation center.. .. prolly easiest to walk to it to goto epcot rather than ride all the way around the lagoon to get to the trans center..

Hi stayed at both (Poly Dec 2001 and BC (Villas) March 2003. Also YC Feb 2001.

I love them all. Poly is wonderful, I might consider BC since you have stayed at GF in the past.

I love Beach club, SAB and the whole Epcot area is great. You are close to 2 parks (Epcot and MGM,) plus right near board walk with other night time enterainment. There is many places to eat and you can walk to Epcot every night and stand ont he brige right inside the park and get a great view of Illuminations. (last min I might add.) Also we adore Beaches and Cream.

When compareing the 2 I would chose Beach Club, that is also because we were at the villas and you can't beat those. Beach Club (not villas) have some balconies that are very small (YC are all full size.)

Also, Poly has no hot tub. YBC have 6 total! You can't beat SAB!

Both resorts are great for couples, and for families. Both are romantic and relaxed. Both are great. Either way you will have a blast.

(but I vote for giving beach club a try!):sohappy:

I've stayed at both several times. Either way you can't go wrong.

Poly Pros
Monorail resort
Great theming
Can be within walking distance to TTC making transportation REALLY easy.
Can get a great view.

BC Pros
Very short walk to Epcot (and you can then catch the monorail to TTC).
Walking distance to Boardwalk area.
Short boat ride to MGM.
Best pool on site.

Personally I like BC just a little better, but being a DVC member, I'm biased.

We've stayed at both resorts, but my favorite has always been the Polynesian. As others have mentioned the monorail accessability is great. The new pool area is pretty cool and Captain Cook's is the best fast food place...in my opinion.

If you stay at the Beach Club and want to get into Epcot it won't pay to walk it, they won't let you through World Showcase to get to any of the rides. That was a big minus for our family since our teenage son always wants to get to Epcot early to ride Test Track.

They're both beautiful resorts but the Polynesian grounds are more winding and relaxing.

When did you last stay at BC that you couldn't get into Epcot in the morning? They let us walk through WS to get to Future World and the monorail as early as Future world opens. They block off the path to the right (toward France), but allow you to go through GB and Canada. This was as of September.

I'd pick Poly, but then again, I"m a monorail person.

BC has lots of perks. walking distance to Epcot and Boardwalk, as well as the short boat ride to MGM, and the great pool.

But there's just something about bbeing right across the lagoon from the Magic Kingdom and seeing the monorails going by that just gets to me.

Plus that Tonga Toast. that's always a plus.

I haven´t stayed in any of them, but I would probably pick BC because of the easy access to Epcot and the Boardwalk area at night. Specially if you are not with kids, that area is very romantic to walk around at nights. You also have ESPN, Beaches and Cream, JellyRolls and Atlantic Dance to enjoy.

And since you have already experienced the MK area in a monorail hotel, why not give BC a try? Maybe you also get a nice balcony on the lagoon side! :animwink:

---------------

Since when they don´t let people go through International Gateway to Epcot? That´s the main reason of it! I worked there and IG was open since 7am for resorts guests to cut to the main entrance on EE days or any other day! (WSC remains closed until 11am).
