Polynesian building recommendations?

I've stayed at the Floridian the last couple years and this year we decided to check out the Polynesian since the pool has been finished. Does anyone have any recommendations of a building/floor that I should try to request? I'm not familiar with the resort. I've also heard that the construction on the quiet pool does impact some buildings. My reservation is for a standard room.

There are three buildings with standard views that will be impacted by the quiet pool construction: Samoa, Niue and Rarotonga. Of course views in these buildings will only be less-than-desirable on the side facing the construction; views on the other side (Samoa ~ main pool, Niue ~ gardens, Rarotonga ~ gardens/monorail) will be fine. These buildings are the most centrally located and most convenient to the pool, TTC, bus stop and Great Ceremonial House (restaurants and monorail.) However, it is possible there may be a detour or two on the walkways surrounding these buildings.

If you want to avoid the construction completely, request a room in Aotearoa, Fiji or Tuvalu. These buildings are on the other side of the marina and while a little farther from the amenities, they will be quieter. Of these, Fiji has the best standard views.

All longhouses (except Niue) are three stories. Rooms on the second floor do not have a balcony, so if being able to go outside is important to you, ask for third floor (balcony) or first floor (patio).

Thanks for the input. I noticed today as did the online check-in, that you can now request which building you'd like, or which floor. You get two requests.

I would not recommend Tuvalu right now as that one is undergoing construction on the Lagoon side. We just left August 2nd and if you like to sleep in you will hear them working around 9am. I was always up before that so it did not bother me but it did some of the other people travelling in my party. Tuvalu was quieter at night but it felt like we were stuck in that building and forgot about the entire trip. Does anyone know if they are supposed to do the Mickey shaped towels still. Not one day did we have these which was a little disappointing.

What kind of construction were they doing? I ask because it might be a short term project...we were at GF in June and workers were doing something in front of our building for several days but finished by the time we left. So while what happened to you was unfortunate (like it was for us) it may not impact guests who arrive later this month.

As you can tell by my avatar, Tuvalu is special to me and one of the reasons I enjoy it is for the quietness and away-from-it-all feeling. It sounds like you did not have good housekeeping service (which can happen in any building.) Towel animals (including Mickey) are never guaranteed, some housekeepers are more creative than others. Although most rooms that are prepped for new guests usually have the Mickey head towel on one of the beds...sorry yours didn't. :(

The towel Mickeys were a big reason we chose a Disney owned resort over the Swan or Dolphin. I really wanted that "Disney" touch everyone speaks about. I'm geeky and weird that way.

I'm not sure what they were doing but they had scaffolding up over that whole side of the building, I'm pretty sure no one was in those rooms or at least I never saw anyone go in or out of those rooms for our entire trip. We stayed 10 days and the scaffolding was up the entire time. I cant complain too much, it was probably better than having a view of the quiet pool construction area.
