Stayed at the Contemporary our last trip. Loved it. Found myself awfully curious about the Poly though. Can't stay at either without a discount but would like to know your vote and why. :)

I love both and have stayed at both but as I have said before on this board, the CR is my favorite. I love to get "home" on the monorail.....I love being inside....provided you stay in the tower .....and you are close to all amenities. The Poly is very nice and nicely themed and I love the Kona Cafe for breakfast. You cannot go wrong with either one and I think that the Poly just got a facelift. But....from what I read on these boards, they are doing some construction there so if that is an issue for you, I would choose the CR. Enjoy! :cat:

We did not stay in the main building at the CR and I must admit it was a haul for us from the main building. Not so much so that it would deter us but it I prefer to be closer next time. :)

Beware the DVC construction at Poly right now. It's made a lot of things more difficult. Supposed the Great Ceremonial House (their main lobby) is closed. One of the beaches is closed.

When we've been able to stay at Poly (before construction began), it was lovely. We really enjoyed how quiet it was and the theming around the resort. Finally, we liked Poly because it was the lone MK resort where you could easily monorail to MK AND walk to the TTC to monorail to Epcot.

That said, due to construction, it may be a lot less appealing right now.

That said, when they open the Poly DVC, I would love to be able to buy in (though it'll likely be $$$$$)

Loved the POLY. I want to try CONT soon...I couldn't offer a decent comparison, but I have found the grounds at the POLY wonderful to sit or stroll, the beach was nice for lounging too, the rooms BIG for a disney deluxe room, and the food choices really good. IMHO Captain Cooks one of the best QS places on property in terms of food quality, selection and the personnel working there.

I would definitely wait til the construction is over to stay there though...and I hope if they are expanding it they add some more restaurants, I've heard Gaspirillas at GF is overburdened with the new DVC rooms and no new restaurants. I think that is what is wrong with Roaring Forks too, they put the WL Villas up and didn't add or expand a restaurant on property...

All very good points. I agree on the expanding of restaurants. I am surprised they don't automatically put in restaurants in the villas that are specifically geared towards DVC members.

Does anyone have an accurate time frame for when they expect to finish? We want to go at the end of 2015.

We enjoyed both, and Poly was very convenient when they had more buses at the Ticket and Transportation Center; however we really like the convenience of Contemporary and will be staying there again on our next trip. For atmosphere, I think Poly has Contemporary beat, but we do like Contemporary's decor as well.

Really like both! All other things equal, we like Poly better because of the theming/atmosphere (but depends now on what all changes with the construction). Contemp for convenience/price depending on what specials are going on and what's available.

I like the island theme more than the modern hotel setup Contemporary has. I don't go on island vacations so it is a theme I don't experience often. Contemporary style I experience a lot so it is not as high of a priority.

Contemporary. We've stayed at BLT a handful of times as owners and absolutely love it there. Never actually stayed at CR but we spend a lot of time in there. We do the resort debate all the time and both agree that CR just has more of a magical buzz about it. Stayed at Poly once and not sure that we would again, maybe when the DVC opens up. I just don't think you can beat the quick walk into MK. We get our tropical Poly fix every trip with at least one ADR booked there.

The Contemporary (much like HRH at Uni) is my least favorite. I prefer something...don't know how to say it...something warmer. To me, the Contemporary and HRH are just a little cold. This has nothing to do with how good they are and everything to do with personal preference.

I always liked the Poly very much. I got a little sick of it, since everyone wanted to stay there all the time, but I liked it. And of all the buildings, I like Tuvalu the best (assuming I have a view. Without the view, I don't want to be on that side of the dock.)

I don't know what I'll think about the Poly after they add the time-share. It may ruin the whole place (but may not! Have to wait and see!)

Poly wins for me (duh,) but I love them both. I really feel like you can't go wrong either way.
