Poly Lagoon Views: Anyone have a problem with this?

Our lagoon views at the Poly have always been great. I understand, however, that not all lagoon views actually have a view of the lagoon because they are obstructed by landscaping.

Now I don't know just how obstructed these views can be, but I have to tell you that I expect to be able to see the lagoon if I pay extra for the view. Anyone have any experience with not being satsified with the view? If so, did you complain? What happened?

Thanks for the input?

Whenever we had a lagoon view at the Poly, there may have been some shrubbery standing about 2 to 3 feet tall between our deck and the lagoon- in no way did it obstruct the view, unless you were a 2 or 3 year old! The shrubbery was there, not as an obstruction, but it was the "fence" between our deck and the walkway or grass.

Hope you have a good view and you don't have any obstructions.

Welcome to the Hotel Industry, the world of airbrushed photos and sparse discriptions.

You cannot always get what you want (and a partial Lagoon view is better than a parking lot view). I stayed in a 5 star hotel once, and paid for a Harbor view, and little did I know, I had a view of the harbor along with the views of about 10 streets worth of rooftops. I would never complain about some landscaping being in my way

I have either stayed in or stood on every Lagoon view room at the Polynesian when researching for my web page. I can tell you there is not a lagoon view room where you cannot see the water (lagoon). There are some that the castle is blocked or partly blocked but none that you cannot see the lagoon. In fact the side of Aotearoa longhouse has rooms that all face the lagoon but since some have mostly blocked views (but not totally) about half of them are charged as garden view rooms even though they face the lagoon and you can see part of it. So it is more likely you could get a garden view room with a partial lagoon view.

Visit my web pages to see photos and locations of all lagoon view rooms.

My wife and I have had a Hawaii Longhouse Concierge room reserved for 4 months.

We're going on Vacation in May.

We would really REALLY like a 1st floor room so in the morning I can just slide open the doors and sit on my patio and have coffee and enjoy the Lagoon and castle view in the mornings.

Does anyone know the best way for us to be guarenteed a 1st floor room?

Tikiman..I absolutely LOVE your site. I visit it often and have gotten ALOT of great info from it.
Keep up the good work...it is appreciated by alot of people.:sohappy:

Thanks Scooter.

Unfortunately there is no way to guarantee any request. All you can do is request a ground floor room.

I will tell you that I love ground floor rooms and the open feeling of the patio.

Have a great trip.

Aloha
