Hello PolyPeople!
We have heard so much recently about the Poly- a bit disconcerting, since we are returning for the umteenth time (first visit in the early '70s) on the above dates .tikiman has given us great info, but wanted to let all know we will give a detailed review of our upcoming visit. Promise- no food px - I have to lose some!!!
We stayed at the Contemp in Oct 2013 - enjoyed, but loved wandering the Poly before our ohana dinner.
We were homesick!!
We will be honest about our experience. We last stayed there in Sep 2011 - it did need some tweeking, We were in Fiji (our fav). BUT, it was still the Poly! No balconies, looking out at other balconies - it took one to a different place. Not JUST another beautiful place to stay.
Will update the wonderful walk to the TTC,the Captain's, lobby, etc. Will attach photos, if I can figure out how!!
Will only report what we see, no rumors(lik+e the Lobby being closed).
Hopefully, there will be a day tomorrow, just like today!
Ch-Ears,
Bill

My daughter really wants to stay at the Poly so any construction updates would be awesome and yes I'm totally and utterly jealous that you will be there soon!

Good Morning, s&k'smom!
Looking out the window at snow and 11 degrees, this morning - we can't wait!
Will post how it goes when we return. We're expecting some disruption, but hopefully it will be at a minimum on the Fiji side.
Ch-Ears to you and your daughter!
Bill

We're going this June. We stayed at the Poly in 2008 and absolutely LOVED it. We then stayed at the Contemporary in 2011. We received a discount to stay in the Garden Wing. Although we really enjoyed the Contemporary, we went to the Poly for dinner at Ohana and for 4th of July fireworks. We vowed that the next time we visited WDW we would definitely sty at the Poly. We originally booked the Poly for this summer, but with all the talk of the construction this summer, we finally decided to choose another resort. I'm bummed! Can't wait to return to the Poly in 2016!

Hi rnese,
Sounds like what happened to us.
There is just something about it..... it pulls you back. (Sounds like a song!)
Ch-Ears, and have a good night!

You brought back memories! When I was about 12 (~1974) my mom took me, my little sister, and my favorite cousin to Disney and we stayed at the Poly over the 4th of July. Loved seeing the fireworks from the beach! I remember thinking the Poly was so beautiful and exotic. When my family finally made it to Hawaii in 2012, the first thing I said to my mom as we walked out of the airport was, "Disney really did a great job -- this looks just like the Polynesian Resort!" :)

I can't wait to hear your report mebucko. We are considering a stay at the Poly in July 2014. While I know a lot can change in 5 months, it will be great to get a first hand report!

Looks like you will just miss the start of the work in the GCH. Captain Cook's is expected to have its last day before renovations on March 9th.

Hi WDWJenn09,
We're lookin' forward to it - 16 wake-ups!!
Staying at Fiji, we're not expecting too much disruption, but you never know.
We love the walk to and from the TTC, and hope that will still be OK.
The Monorail cutback just means a little more pre-planning, i.e. resvs at The Wave, etc.
We'll report back.....
Enjoy YOUR trip in July!
Ch-Ears,
Bill

Hello soon to be Poly friend!
Will be staying there for Princess Weekend 21-24th (for the first time at the Poly)...no parks just running and relaxing at the Poly.
During online check-in I requested we be in the Fiji building with a balcony so we just may be in the same building!!! If you see me around say hello! I just may have some runDisney bling around my neck most of the time after Sat morning that weekend :)

Fiji to me looked the farthest from the construction, seemed like it had not so bad views, plus not a far walk from everything..looking forward to it and hope we get that building we requested! :)

Good Morning, PartOfYourWorld,
Hope you enjoy Fiji as much as we do! It is the only longhouse we have stayed in - lost count, but at least 10 times. Every time was a garden view(except once - upgraded to the marina view). Balcony, no balcony, ground floor were all great!
It is quiet, but we love the luau sounds in the evening!
Good luck with your run! Our daughter did the Disney Marathon when she was a Cast Member and going to UCF. Disney World in a completely different light!
Hope this crazy northeast weather allows both of us non-delayed trips in both directions!( we are in South Jersey)
Will keep an eye out for you guys!
Ch-Ears to you and Yours!

Thanks for the crossed fingers!
You will deserve all the great Poly scenes and memories, after your run! And every time you return, you will look and re-live EVERY mile. Don't forget to dress warm for the start!! AND, don't forget that Captain Cook's does sell Dole Whips! They go well on the two-person swing, right outside of Fiji!
We'll be looking for your bling, and we wish you well!!
Ch-Ears!
