Poly and TTC question...

We are staying at Poly for our 1st time in September. Now, is it faster to get to AK or DHS by taking a bus from the TTC, or from the Poly bus stop? I have heard the Poly bus stop buses stop at GF and CR also, before going to AK/DHS. Does the TTC bus go directly to AK/DHS?
Thanks in advance!

At the Poly bus stop, you get on one of those buses, and it MAY stop at Grand Floridian, but it won't stop at Contemporary because that's where the bus started. [There are some routes where GF shares with Wilderness Lodge rather than with Contemporary and Poly, I just can't recall exactly which ones]

We usually went to TTC to catch those buses, but that's because our room was pretty close to the TTC ... it seemed a shorter walk than to the Poly bus stop, for us. But most of Poly's rooms will be closer to the bus stop than to the TTC's bus area. But yes, the TTC buses do not go to any resorts.

When we were at the Poly in December, we were in the Rarontonga longhouse, which is very close to the Poly bus stop, and that's the bus stop we used. The bus to Animal Kingdom stops at the Contemporary first, then the Poly and we also made a stop at Blizzard Beach before arriving at AK. We also took the bus to DHS from the Poly, and I do remember it stopped at Grand Floridian on the way, don't know where or if it made any previous stops as we returned using alternate transportation. The bus to Downtown Disney also stopped at the Contemporary before going to the Poly. But it would all depend on which longhouse you're staying in. If you're in Tahiti or Rapa Nui, it's probably closer to get the bus from the TTC.

Have a magical time, the Poly is my favorite resort (we're going back in 6 days!)

Thanks for asking this question...my family is heading back to the Poly in six weeks and each time when we had stayed there in the past we had always rented a car...so Disney transportation, outside of the monorail, was never a concern. I'm looking forward to more insight on this question. Like everything, I've heard great things about the Disney buses and not-so great things about them.... it's probably a time of year "thing" (crowds) and how much realistic time you give yourself to get from one place to another.

As mentioned the Polynesian busses stop at the Contemporary, Polynesian and then the GF. Some times of the year they change it up a little and they have had the bus go to the WL, Poly and GF. You may save a little time going to the TTC and the bus might not be as crowded but most of the time the bus at the resort should work out fine. Now to me nothing beats having a car for going to AK, Downtown Disney, water parks and other resorts to eat so we always get a car even if it is only used a few times. Now another option is you can get a car once you get to the resort. They will get you at the resort and take you to get your car just down the road from the Polynesian. You could get a car for a couple of days and go to the locations that are easier to get to with a car. Just make sure you get a resort parking pass when you check in so you don’t have to pay for parking.

Instead of renting a car, we often take a taxi from the resort to a park if we are short on time. The cost of an occasional taxi is sometimes less than a rental car, and less hassle, since you can use Magical Express. We usually pay about $12 per trip (say from the Poly to DHS or AK)

Thanks for asking this question because I have a question along the same line. We'll be staying at the Tokulau longhouse in mid-June. We're pretty close to the TTC but I'm wondering do the DHS and AK buses leave more frequently at the TTC or from the bus stop at the Great Ceremonial House? The last thing I want to be doing is standing around waiting for the next bus.

I agree on the car thing, though we don't normally stay at the Poly due to the cost. I find that from all the resorts taking a car to all the parks other than the MK is the way to go. With the MK it does not work well because you need to park at the TTC and then take bus or monorail depending and it takes a long time, by that time just taking the MK bus or monorail if on the loop works better. Granted we try to arrive at all the parks when they open so we get a nice parking spot anyway and you can walk right to the gate rather than take a tram...
