I'd rather see them take a nobody and have them run the WDC (of course, he or she would need financial advisers, etc...)

But, somebody who only cares about the company...

I would like to see an independent Board and Chairman who are willing to stand up to the CEO. I think Disney worked best under Eisner/Wells because they balanced each other out. We need people who will work as a team. The dreamer and the pragmatist.

Wow, look at how many people want Steve Jobs to be Disney's next CEO so far!!!!!! That by itself should make news!

Question: Does Steve want the job?

My answer: I think so. I remember reading a number of years ago an interview of Jobs, where he talks about his admiration for the WDC. This is when Pixar just released Toy Story. He said that he wanted Pixar to become "the next Walt Disney Co." Translation: he would love to be the one directing WDC's future. But what would he do with Pixar and Apple? Would he have the guts to give up his ownership in Pixar to merge it with Disney so that it wouldn't be a conflict of interest? He would also need to step down as Apple's CEO because the Disney CEO title would take up all his time. Would he have the guts to step down as CEO from the company he founded? I think he's done all he could do for Apple and set Apple on the right course for the future, so he's no longer needed at the helm there, but could offer consultant services for the company. Your thoughts on this?

Next Question: Would Disney's Board select him?

Roy Disney may like him and try to bring him in. But he better have a package deal the Disney Board can not refuse, which includes Pixar, and other talent, included in the team, possibly with DreamWorks and Jeffrey Katzenberg, and they must have already decided that Eisner is history.

Can I vote for none of the above?

I definitely DON"T want Steve Jobs - a) He has as much of an ego as Eisner, b) He's too embeded in technology for my tastes to run a creative company, and c) Looking at Apple and how that turned out does not make me very confident.

Barry Diller, from the little I have read about him, seems to have a big problem with people, too. I think he has scared off as much talent as Eisner has.

Katenberg would be my choice of what is available, but I think there is too much ainmosity between him and Disney, and I am not sure he has the raw creative talent, but I could be wrong.

Richard Cook just does not seem to me to have the experience yet for that position

Iger - I don't know enough about, but my impression is too busines, not enough vision.

Then again, I guess you are stuck with whoever is willing to take the job. you can wan lots of people, but if they don't want the job...
