Police handled this great!!!

The title is sarcastic. Just got home about 10 min ago. Upon arriving at my neighborhoods entrance after coming home from my girlfriends house, I find out that police and fire crews are blocking the road. While waiting for about 30 - 45 min for them to leave and let us go home, we are NOT told what is going on. After seeing 5 cop cars, 2 fire engines, and 1 special opperations unit vehicle, and 1 bomb squad truck, go by, are we told that there was a suspicious briefcase. The police didn't even tell the neighborhood security officer of the situation. Not to mention that my brother left the phone off the hook so I can't even contact my family to make sure they are all ok. Anyway, I,m glad to be home!!!!!

I think that you'll find the NSO reports items and incidents to the police - not the other way around.

Don't get me wrong, they handled the situation well. I'm talking about how they handled the ppl waiting.

At least tell us (me and the rest of the ppl who just wanted to get home and go to sleep) what the nature of the problem was. There we were, not knowing if there was a shooting, a standoff, a madman running around, poisonous materials, or even a gas leak. They wouldn't even let the ppl who lived 2 houses into the development and nowhere near the situation in.

Main reason for that is to not cause a panic. Would you stick around if they said there might be a bomb inside this briefcase that could go off at any second?

If there was a serious hazard or danger to your safety, you would have been notified and evacuated. Sometimes what the people don't know, won't hurt them.
