Points + standard reservation possible?

My wife and I are thinking about buying in at BCV. We typically go to WDW the week following Thanksgiving, and really only need a studio right now.

Down the road, I know we can always buy (waitlist) for additional points from Disney, but if we want to take a longer vacation or upgrade to a 1 or 2 bedroom for just a particular year, is it possible to use our points and just pay the difference between what our points cover and what we want to reserve?

If you want a longer vacation, you can also borrow points from your next Use Year and/or bank points from your prior Use Year.

DVC members can make a cash reservation through DVC Member Services and link the reservation to your points reservation. You can also get a 25% discount off the rack rate -- subject to availability. Just keep in mind how pricey the rack rates are for 1-BR and 2-BR villas.

Another option would be to book through CRO using an AP or AAA discount. However, you may have to change rooms when you switch from your points ressie to your CRO ressie.
