points and reservation question

Good day, I recently purchased points through resale for Saratoga springs. My wife has a conference at the Swan and Dolphin every four years. We would really like to stay at the Boardwalk during those years and I am wondering if we could buy a small amount of points there to get the advantage of the eleven month reservation window to eliminate transportation issues. Would this work in combination with our points at Saratoga?

You would not be able to book at the 11-month mark with any of the SSR points for BWV. So lets say you have 100 BWV points and 200 SSR points and your stay at BWV was 130 points you could not use the 30 points from the SSR contract to complete the reservation. This assumes you have no more BWV points to borrow from the next year. Some of your options is to wait list the reservation at the 7 month window, rent/transfer BWV points from another owner to get you the amount you need, or buy enough points so that if you were to bank/borrow/use you would have enough for the stay at BWV.

Your best bet is to first decide what level of accommodation that you want to want to stay in. Studio, 1 bedroom, etc. Then look at the points needed for the time that you are there and divide by 3. You can then bank and borrow for a trip there every third year buying only the minimum needed at the 11 month mark. You can use the 4th year to stay somewhere else at the 7 month mark adding them to your SSR points.

If you only use your SSR points, then you are limited to the 7 month window as @lostpro9het stated. The 1 bedrooms are the easiest to get at 7 months, as the studios go first, especially during the busiest times. We had no problem getting a 1 bedroom Boardwalk view at 7 months during Food & Wine, but there were no studios available. Worked for us anyway, since the 2 of us prefer a 1 bedroom.
