POFQ or POR in your opinion,please?

Hello there
After asking for hotel value, I'm thinking of upgraded my reservation by POFQ or POR. I mean I went a long time ago in FQ and love it but POR has this charm of south too but it is a huge resort (ok I'm french and will be there for 9 days so I'm trying to stay on my budget too lol) and POFQ has been refurbished ... So May I ask you to help me again to decide ?

I prefer Riverside. Even though it is larger, I feel the vibe is less hectic. Plus I enjoy the main pool more along with the options of the multiple “quiet” pools. Just our opinion.

I tend to agree. If you review the French Quarter thread, it has some comparisons. I highly prefer the mansions side since we find the grounds to be more to our liking. Also, I think that that POR rooms are a little quieter although that might be pure luck of the draw. The food court at POR has better options and we also prefer its gift shop. We also will walk from POR to POFQ since it is a short walk and it has a nice path that runs along the "Sassagoula River". So, we can get the best of both worlds.

It sorta depends on your personal preferences. I should start by saying I have not been to either in several years. Of the two, I most recently stayed at POFQ.

A plus of POFQ, in my opinion, is the more compact size. I prefer the compact size because I don't like to lose a lot of time walking around the hotel, or long rides on the bus while it loops around to all the stops. But that's my take. Other people enjoy walking the ground of POR.

Another difference is that POR has a larger food court. That said, though it has been a while, I didn't find the food court offerings to be all that exciting at either of them. No matter which side you choose, you can easily eat at either food court. I think, if I recall correctly, if your room is in one of the centrally located rooms, then walking to either food court is even easier. I think those are the preferred location rooms?

I liked the POFQ pool better, but again, I am pretty sure they still allow pool hopping between the two resorts. Most WDW do not allow pool hopping, but POR/POFQ (and the 3 All Stars) were the exception. If that option appeals to you though, it might be helpful to make sure it is still allowed.

They are both very nice. (though my most recent moderate stays have been at the Coronado tower)

A preferred room at Riverside is almost the best of both worlds if the price isn’t too much more (I say almost because the bus situation at French Quarter is better in terms of walking distance and only having one stop.) It puts you right by the pool / dining / lobby hub which is a really charming area.

I think the charm of Riverside is the feeling of walking in nature and the ambiance of the grounds. For French Quarter it’s the intimate feel, jazz, and beignets.

Riverside is my favorite by far - for me it’s up there with Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge as my top 3 favorite resorts.

French Quarter is nice too - but the lobby and food court building is much smaller and more basic design wise. The FQ is just not as charming for me - but still nice.
