Has anyone received a call to arrange for new location to stay because they are closing the french quarter? I have ressies for May 31-June 7, 2003 and have heard nothing. I was wondering when they will call to fix this problem.

No reservations for last week of Sept

Yesterday I tried to get a quote online from the Disney site for reservataions starting 9/27 and going until 10/4. The site told me the French Quarter was not available during those times, but the Riverside was available. Looks like they are closing based on slow tourism again.

I have reservations at the POFQ for May 20-25 and have been in contact with my travel agent who has called Disney daily for me. As of this morning, Disney was going to start allowing deluxe upgrades but after keeping my TA on hold for 45 minutes told her that they don't have the information ready and most likely wouldn't be ready until early next week. She did say that if I wanted to move my reservation to any of the other 3 moderates, she could put that through immediately but for a deluxe upgrade, I would just have to wait, which I plan to do. I hope to get into the AKL (my TA said this is likely with a small upgrade fee). I'll post when my/if my upgrade goes through.

what happened to us was....

Christmas 2001....we were at the POR...we heard several areas of the resort were closing down....we paniced and thought of Buses and the food court...and how those would change....we called Disney...and they said that the resort would remain open...and nothing would be effected...and that they could move us to CB or CS....we said no thankyou...and waited it out....

ok sry to get side tracked...my story does relate to yours....

We later recieved a call....saying that they will upgrade us to either the POLY, CONTEMP, or GF......with no exrtra charge...or over to a moderate....this was amazing..we chose the POLY and the room would have been tripple for what we paid....

You guys might even be lucky enough to get a deluxe without a fee....we weren't the only ones to get this special treatment either....we met several other families who had been moved...and the best part was....POR didn't fully close....others were still there
most likely Disney will move you to a moderate....or offer an upgrade price....but with times being so tough for them....(from what I hear).....they'll most likely move you to PORS....FQ sister resort....

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I heard POFQ is closing May 3rd for a REHAB, which is exactly the day we'll arrive in Disneyworld. We'll be staying part of the time at Riverside.

I'm sad because the French Quarter pool is a favorite of my kids. We were planning to use the pool, especially when we were staying at Riverside (and maybe pool-hop as DVC members at other times during the week).

I'm angry because if this is a REHAB, why the heck couldn't they have rehabbed it when it was closed for 6 months in 2001-2002??? I'm mad because the resort was closed the last time we went with the kids, and it will be closed this time too. My daughter even has a postcard of the POFQ pool in her room, she loves the dragon slide. She's going to be seriously bummed.

There's always the Boardwalk pool... but it's always so crowded...

SIGH....

Got my upgrade!

I definately have an All-Star for a TA! She just got off the phone with Disney and they have upgraded my wife and I to the AKL w/ a guarenteed savanah view for $20/day! This is exactly what I wanted! I hope everyone else who originally booked at the POFQ have the same kind of luck that I did! After all the shuffle and what not, I'm saving over $1000!

Way to go! Here's your standing "O"

What your TA did for you is called an upsell. When disney does not have any rooms left at the moderate resorts for your travel dates, they will offer you an upsell rate at an extremely low price. Congrats on getting the AKL Savannah view. You will love it!

May I ask what price you are paying per night for your savannah view room? We are in the same boat and would like to get a similar deal. I must admint that I have a sweet deal right now at the moderates for only $94/night. Let me know hat your per night rate is so I can try to acquire the same.

What I paid....

Originally I paid $1005 for a 4-night/5 day dream maker package with stay at a moderate hotel (POFQ) with a water view. With the added $20/day (or $25/night...however you want to do the math) it was $1103.99.

Please, anyone who has gotten a better deal, do not post on this thread. This was the best deal I could find at the time and this was well before I knew of this msg board.

Hope this helps!
