Today I was listening to the latest "episode" of MousePod. The host mentioned another podcast called 'Zip-A-Dee-Do-Cast'. Has anyone else heard of this one...and if so, where I can get it?

Thanks!

iTunes recently released an upgrade (iTunes 4.9) that includes support for Podcasting. So, if you haven't already, the first thing you gotta do is upgrade your iTunes by downloading 4.9 here (which is free as always). Once you've upgraded to 4.9 it's easy as can be to subcribe to all the Podcasts you want (all Podcast subscriptions are free as well).

Go into the "music store" and, in the left side menu, click on "podcasts" to open the podcast section. From there do a search for "Disney" and you'll get a whole bunch of Disney related podcasts. Click "subscribe" for the ones you want and iTunes will start downloading the the shows and putting them in the Podcast folder. In the Podcast folder you can open each subcription to get back episodes too. A Disney search brings back a bunch of shows:

* Disney Insider, Gears Behind the Ears, and the two Happiest Homecoming casts are all official Disney ones.

* Fan based casts are: Inside the Magic; Mousepod; ToonFinder; Magical Themepark Podcast (a new one). Those all come up with a Disney search. There's also a "3 Ring Podcast" (search under "3 ring") that has about 7 or 8 Disneyland/DCA sounseeing episodes.

* If you're a general themepark/coaster/thrillride fan, search under "coaster" too and subscribe to: Coaster Radio, and Thrill network.

Can listen to the episodes on your computer, or dump em to your iPod/MP3 player and take em on the road. In the main iTunes drop down menu, goto preferences, and there's now a podcast prefence section where you can customize download schedule (for new episodes), etc. Good stuff. And keep searching under Disney every week or so. There's bound to be new casts starting up all the time.

Also, for others, iTunes isn't the only way to get Podcasts, it's just the easiest. But you can also google search the individual websites of each "caster" and download the episodes directly from there. Or you can use other podcast subscription software like iPodder. Before iTunes 4.9 I used iPodder for awhile and it worked great. I'd say iTunes is by far and away the easiest/best way to manage and get new subscriptions though.

By the way, just took a look through your web gallery, and you got some great pictures in there Mike. That A95 does good work. Really impressed with the way it handled the low light shots. Which of course is photographer skill too. Nice pics.

Matt,

Thanks for the details. I really appreciate it, it sounds very cool. I am going to try to check it out tonight if I get the time.

Thanks for the comments about my photos. The A95 is a nice camera for it's price for sure. I had purchased for my wife before our last trip and I was using my Sony V3 and I found the A95 much easier to handle. I found it a really nice camera. So I have since gotten rid of my V3 as it just could not perform as well. In general I think I am sticking with Cano from now on.

Thanks again,
Mike

Yeah I'm a Canon guy myself. Their G series, and A series digitals have all been great. They put in great lenses and it shows. Plus they don't overprocess/sharpen in camera which is nice. And they give you all the manual controls you need.

Once you get iTunes 4.9 setup, there's also a really popular digital photography podast called "Tips From the Top Floor" (search under "tips from the top floor"). Great show, with great tips. Without being overly technical so it's real useable stuff that's easy to follow.

Thanks Matt. I never got to do it last night, maybe when I get home tonight.

The V3 way oversharpened which was the #1 reason I sold it. I replaced it with the Pro1 which I really like a lot. I have had so many Canon's it is crazy. I buy and sell all the time. I have had the S400, A80, A95, G6, Pro 1 and SD20. I still have the Pro 1 and SD20. I use the SD20 for every day stuff and Pro 1 when I plan on going out to shoot pics. On my next WDW trip I am only bringing the SD20 though. I want to try the parks free from baggage. The SD20 is so tiny it will fit in my pocket easily. The following trip I will go back to carrying the bag again though as the SD20 has no manual controls really and I do use them.

Thanks again,
Mike

It's hard to get into some of these other podcasts, because they're not broadcast on a consistent basis. I love Inside the Magic, not only for its content, but because Ricky produces it on a regular schedule. To me, that is the definitive Disney podcast.

Thanks for the kind words! :) I appreciate all of my listeners and encourage everyone to listen to all the Disney podcasts. I can't cover everything so the others pick up where I leave off. It's not a competition... it's more of a community. Podcasting is meant to be everything that commercial radio is not... fun and interesting! ;)

Thanks for listening.

I've downloaded yours today. I'll listen in the morning at work at my desk. Currently, I just burn the file to a CD-RW to transfer to work. But I plan to purchase an iPod Photo 60GB this week and fix that issue! :sohappy:

Remember records? 45's and you had to have that little yellow plastic thing to put in the middle so it would fit on the turntable. Remember turntables? The ones you played records on to hear music, not the ones you scratch the records up on.

Yes... and isn't it nice to be able to fit thousands of records-worth of content on a small, pocket sized device to be played on the road, in the air, on the water, or even in space? ;)

I'm not sold on paying $300 bucks for an IPOD when I can create MP3 and ATRAC 3 discs to play on my $50 Sony cd player. Yes I know you can get cheaper MP3 players, but if I was going to get one, I would want to get a 20 GB one that I could put my entire collection on. I've got over 10 gigs of music on my computer and I can fit just about all of those tracks on about 6 or 7 ATRAC 3 discs.

But if I had quite a bit of extra money, I'd probably get an IPOD like the rest of the world :)

Ipods are nice...but I think the best way to listen to a podcast in a car would be to get a car FM/CD player that has a memory card slot built in. One transfer from your computer, carry your memory card to the car....Does anyone know of a radio that has this option? I know some radios have this with a hard drive, but I really just want one with the card slot and a CD player. Maybe one day.

Is it possible to burn the podcast to a cd from iTunes? I would love to do this, but where it usually says 'burn disc' at the top right it instead has the update button. Am I missing something? Any help will be appriciated!

You will need to move the podcasts that you want to burn to cd to a playlist. Once in the playlist the Burn option will be available again.
