Plotnick to Head WABC News Ops
NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) -- WABC-TV did not have to look far to find a news director. Weeks after losing Dan Forman to rival WNBC, the Walt Disney Co. O&O promoted station vet Kenny Plotnick to the top job. Plotnick, who joined the station as an executive producer under Bill Applegate in 1987, had been assistant news director since September 2000. His hiring marks another change in the turbulent New York station mar-ket that began when former WNBC general manager Dennis Swanson joined Viacom Television Stations Group last month and Forman moved over to WNBC. WABC has generally been the top-rated station at 6 p.m. but second to WNBC in news at 5 and 11 p.m.
