Are they still doing that ticketing experiment at PI?

Yes.

Unfortunately, the shopping options at PI have gone completely into the toilette. I used to like their shops but now there's basically nothing. The stores should be turned into additional club/dining options. That way they can keep all of PI closed during the day and cater to more guests at night.

The "ticketing experiment" really helps bring a lot more people into the island and creates more of a "fun atmosphere" (if you think that underage teens wandering around on their own is fun.) Granted, it draws mostly adults, so it's not that big of a deal. Also, it feels a lot more like real "club hopping" because of the whole ticket/ID process each time you enter a new club. This takes a little bit longer, but it's hopefully bringing more guests in.

5 more years and I can return to mannequins.

Anyway, I liked how Pleasure Island works now. It will be a great help for Downtown Disney and now anyone can watch the bands perform outside.

Well, I guess I'm in the minority again. I hate being in the minority, but I REALLY hate that new ticketing system. I didn't do nearly as much bar hopping the last time I was there as I used to do. It was just too much of a hassle.

You're right about the shops, tho. There used to be a shop that had attraction posters and expensive Disney figurines (my Mom is a Lenox freak, I used to get stuff for her there). Now it's been cleaned out and replaced by a pool table and some dart boards. I don't understand that change at all.

IMHO...Pleasure Island has been going downhill now for quite a while. They used to have bigger names in Entertainment showing up performing on stage (can remember seeing Robert Palmer there one night), the midnight New Years Eve celebration used to be fun, if not a bit corny and the fireworks were better. They also had the Pleasure Island Dancers who would do shows in Mannequins and on the stages (including the midnight NYE show).
