We are 42 days out from our trip, but have not paid our room-only off yet. I am going to get our APs soon, and was planning on calling after to ask for the AP discount before paying. Am I too late to do this??? How long do I have to add a discount? Thanks!!

First You do not have to have the AP in hand to book over the phone yourself, or with a travel agent (which are free). It works just like regular booking discounts there is only a certain period you can book them. Just curious and none of my business but why did you wait to purchase the AP? It does not start until you actually activate it once you get there, so you could have purchased it before the price increased earlier this year.
As mentioned above you also could have booked the AP discount room on the phone without the AP yet. You just would have had to have it once you checked In. We did that last year and that's what they told us just make sure you have the activated pass at check in. (They never even checked it at Boardwalk but that's not always the case! Lol).
I hope you didn't miss booking the room type you want as it's so close and Not all rooms are available to use the discount with and they only have so many they block out for the AP discount. Call ASAP to check and tell them you are an AP even though you do not have it yet.
Also make sure the discount your getting is worth the price of the AP. For us it was b/c we stayed Deluxe/Deluxe Villa but if it's moderate or value it might not be worth getting an AP etc. You might be better off with the public discounts as those are usually only about 5% less on average than AP discounts. Good Luck! :)

Room only reservations made on the phone can be modified up to 5 days before you trip with mot change fee. A room only reservation only needs the first night deposit, the rest can be paid upon arrival. Reservations made on the website, or packages are subject to a change fee if they are modified less than 45 days in advance.
As @sxeensweet said, you only need to know the discount code (if there is one) when you make the reservation, you don't need to do anything at that point to prove you actually have an AP. They may request it upon arrival.

Omg... I have been waiting to buy the APs because I thought the date started the day you bought them!! How stupid am I? Lol I could have got them cheaper before. We are getting the APs because we are doing 5 park days as FL residents, so it just makes sense. I'm going to call right now. Thanks.

Awww I wish you had knew that!! So sorry you didn't! I always like to save where I can as I'm sure you do too! Lol I had bought mine prob in June online and did not activate it until December when we went. Now I think to do that you have to buy it online and not in person as they prob activate it right there if you buy it while there. Not sure about that situation or as a Florida resident how that works lol. Hoping you get the discount you wanted as well!! Let me know. Keeping fingers crossed for you. :)

I called to try and get the 20% off discount for AP holders, but it turned out my dates were excluded...of course lol. The best I could get was the 10% AAA for the time being. I looked for other discounts, and found out that my dads retired military id will save us 30%!!! That's an extra $500 savings!!! Go us!!!! :)

For sure! The twins get the room in the suite, my DH and I get the pull out couch, and my dad and stepmom get the pull down! It'll be interesting in such tight quarters for sure lol. I'm looking forward to them being there, but we will end up having the last 3 nights to ourselves! :)

At least you will have 3 days to look forward to by yourselves! :). Sounds like you all are staying at the family suites at AOA and I'm sure it won't be too bad b/c of them being pretty roomy, and you will have 2 bathrooms as well. And after all you will be @ WDW what more could you ask for..well you could ask to stay in an actual bed but besides that lol I'm sure you all will have a wonderful family vacation! :)
