Details from the Orlando Business Journal.
"Plans for a new resort near Walt Disney World with 600 hotel rooms and timeshare units have been filed in Orange County.
The project, titled "Project Mary" in the pre-application documents filed April 10, would rise on 12.22 acres at 14355 Chelonia Parkway that are owned by an entity tied to Orlando-based Travel & Leisure Co. (NYSE: TNL).
Located directly across Chelonia Parkway from the JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa, an outline for the project reveals plans for two towers with maximum heights of 200 feet, within which would be 250 timeshare units and 350 hotel rooms.
This would require an entitlement amendment from the project's original development program, which dates back to 2008, which called for 447 timeshare units between the two buildings, according to documents submitted with the request.
Plans also detail a 3-story parking garage and other amenities such as a restaurant and lodge, a pool and pool club, fitness center, ballroom and event lawn.
The project falls within the larger Bonnet Creek Resort PD, which has entitlements for thousands of hotel and timeshare units adjacent the interchange of Interstate 4 and World Center Drive/Epcot Center Drive.
The parcel was acquired in 2004 for $6.1 million, according to Orange County Property Appraiser records.
Officials for Travel & Leisure Co. were not immediately available for comment.
Other firms involved with the project include the Orlando office for engineering firm Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc., as well as Los Angeles-based Relativity Architects."
