Planning one day

It will be a Tuesday and there is early entry for us into MK. I am planning out our day and using our 3 fastpass+. We will be returning to MK later in the week so we are not staying for the fireworks (Halloween party). A quick trip back to the resort to grab a jacket and head to EPCOT. Along the way I stop at the desk and get 3 more fastpass+. First, do they have a fastpass+ area for the fireworks at EPCOT? And 2nd, what are the chances of getting one for the fireworks so late?

Also, I wish they had a sample page on My Disney experience so I could get an idea what and how you pick your fastpass+

Two things I have never needed for Illuminations in October...a jacket and a fastpass.

There is a roped off area to watch illuminations if you have a fast pass, however the last time we went and did that, there was still such a long line that formed so early that we were in the back of the fast pass area so it was kind of pointless. We could not see waiting online for a half an hour to an hour just to watch illuminations without a tree in front of us. If it's really important to you, then it might be worth it.

Also, I'm guessing you won't be able to get it same day, however I could always be wrong. A cast member once told me they specifically hold some back for the day of, but still by the time you use up your first three, I would think it will be pretty unlikely. But you never know.

This has me confused. Are you planning on booking 3 FP+'s for MK in the day and then want another 3 at EPCOT? If so, that can't be done at one time. You will have to use your original 3(or have the assigned time pass) and then you will need to go to the kiosk to get additional ones, one at a time. You can't do 3 additional at one time.

Or are you just planning on using all 3 at EPCOT that night? If so, you just book them via the app and don't have to stop at a "desk".

I stop at the desk and get 3 more fastpass+ (get three more after using first three. I should have said Kiosk)

You can't do that though. Once you use up your first three, any additional FP+ can only be made one at a time. So if you get one for Spaceship Earth for 3-4pm, you have to wait until 4pm to get your second one at Epcot. Also, I'm pretty sure you need to book Epcot FP *in* Epcot. You couldn't do it at an MK kiosk on your way out.

This ^^^^^. You can only obtain additional fastpasses (after initial 3) one at a time, at a kiosk, IN the park where the attraction is located.

Actually I have already done this. But you are wrong in a way. I used my 3 at HS. Before leaving HS I got my next 3 at the HS kiosk for EPCOT.

AND I only wanted 2 but they insisted I get 3. They booked them in groups of 3.

When was that? It may have been a glitch back in the infancy of FP+, because that's just not how it works now. From WDWMagic's Fastpass+ page:
  • One additional FastPass+ can be made at a time. Once the additional FastPass+ selection has been used, or after the arrival time passes, another FastPass+ selection can be made at an in-park FastPass+ kiosk.
  • The additional selection can be made at a different park than the original three selections, but must be made at a kiosk inside the required park.
I promise you this is how it works; there are plenty of people on here who can attest to that. Maybe you got lucky somehow, but you can only book additional FP+ one at a time, inside the park you want the FP+ for.

You're somewhat right in saying that you book FP+ in groups of 3, but that's only for your initial 3 selections. After that, it's only one at a time.

It was when they were still testing so things may have changed. However this is how it reads: If your ticket includes a Park Hopper Option, after you use your initial FastPass+ selections at one park, you’ll be able to make additional FastPass+ selections at a kiosk (one at a time) at the second park you visit that day, up to park closing.

it doesn't say I have to be at the park I want the next FP at it just says "at a kiosk". I will try it and see. You may be right. But I swear I went to the kiosk in HS and got 3 more FP for EPCOT.

That's exactly what it says. It specifies that you make the additional FP selections one at a time, and it specifically says you make the additional selection at a kiosk "at the second park you visit that day."

I know the wording can be a little confusing, especially since they've changed it little by little as it was in testing. But tons of people here on WDWMagic have experience using it in its current state, and will tell you the same thing we're telling you.

I am currently in the world and can state with certainty that you MUST be in the park you want additional fastpasses for after the initial 3. I have made numerous trips in the last 2 years since FP+ went out of "testing" and it has always been that way.

But you are welcome to try it your way.

No I believe them. It has changed since I last went. In fact I am glad everyone insisted on straightening me out. Sorry if I ruffled a few feathers.

Honestly, I really thought it was odd that when I was at HS kiosk and was making fastpasses for EPCOT that I had to pick three. I just wanted to go on Soarin one more time. Seemed like a waste to me.
