I will take one of each of the pizzas from Via Napoli, thank you! I did have a delicious BBQ chicken flatbread appetizer at T-Rex. The ones at Cali Grill all sound delicious but I just can't bring myself to ever change my order there!!

DH and I shared a flatbread and caesar salad at Mama Melrose for lunch and it was delicious! After a peek at the pizza next door we decided it was an excellent decision;) Not fast food and less $$

The flatbread at the resorts is infinitely better than any of the pizza in the resorts at WDW -- don't get a craving for pizza while there

OK...I'm picky - SUPER PICKY - about pizza as I grew up in the NY metro area. If we're talking WDW...the flatbreads I've tried are significantly better than any pizza I've ever eaten there. Granted, I haven't tried Via Napoli; however, all of my NJ & NY friends have said that while not bad- not what we love either. NOW- if we're talking eating outside of WDW...I'll take a proper NY pizza any day over a flatbread.

Being a thick crust girl, I just can't get over the idea of a flatbread therefore it just doesn't appeal to me. Will I ever try it? Probably some day but I'm certain my true love will remain pizza.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I worked in a pizza joint while in university and came to hate the stuff. Hubby worked in the same place, yet still loves it. But I digress.
I'll take the flatbreads over any pizza anywhere (one exception), as I don't like thick crust, nor traditional pizza toppings.
That being said, our pizza at Via Napoli (1/2 pepperoni, 1/2 four cheese) was the best pizza I have ever had in my life.

We're planning on visiting our new found nephew this summer in NY. Where do you recommend for REAL NY Pizza? Bagels?

I will do my best. The funny thing with this...especially pizza...is that you usually think about your neighborhood places before you think about the city. I'm from NY metro area NJ from a predominantly Italian town...so my fave places are there. From experiences in the city though...

I've always had good luck with Essa Bagel...even though my experiences have been Seinfeld soup nazi-ish. While I prefer Carnegie and Katz's for traditional Kosher deli lunch/dinner...they also serve bagels and biolys and are very good. Very VERY Good! I also like Zabar's for bagels and other baked goods...like an iconic black and white cookie! :D Jeez....now I'm craving a huge bagel with the traditional schmeer...especially the awesome lox. YUM!

As for pizza...I've heard good things about Lombardi's in Little Italy. They were closed between '84 and '94. I've been to Litty Italy several times, but I think they were shuttered during the times I've been. Some friends who live in the city ordered from Angelo's several times when I stayed with them and it was decent. We also tried Patsy's a couple times when visiting cousins and that was super yummy. Just be careful with all of the "Ray's." Everyone tries to use the name Ray, they are all different, and some are better than others.

Seriously, just sooooo much good food. Just started thinking about Sylvia's in Harlem and Pig Heaven (Chinese) on the upper west side.

OK- going back to my bland chicken . :(

I have had Lombardi's on my list for quite some time!

Johns Pizzaria on Bleeker Street
The Original Ray's Pizza on 6th avenue and 11th street (avoid the other Rays -- everything in NYC is named Ray, it means "King" in Italian)
H&H Bagels near Zabars (who, incidentally, supply almost all bagels to all bakeries on the upper east and upper west sides)

Buffalo Wild Wings up here in KY has a buffalo chicken flatbread with ranch dressing that is so yumalicious. I'm actually meeting my son tonite for dinner and ordering that very thing (he's away at college in Lexington). This thread is making me very hungry.
