Pixie Dust for CMs

I would like to do something small yet nice for random CMs in the parks, busses and hotels. My first thought was a small wrapped candy (thinking soft peppermints), but then I wondered if 1) they could accept it and 2) if they could pop it in their mouth while on stage.

I am taking stationery to write notes (yes, I know about Twitter--and I will use that--but I am totally old school). If I address the note to "Team Leader Space Mountain...Pecos Bill's....Fantasyland" would that get to the correct person? (Is Team Leader to correct term?) The note would reference CM "Jill" on Jan 6 around 2pm. Would that be enough identifying information? Should I leave the notes at Guest Services in the parks?

Just looking for a way to spread my happiness when I'm in my happy place.

Thoughts??

Don't write any notes to the CM's. All you need to do is get their name, location and time. You can write notes to yourself to remember, then take them to Guest Relations, and there's an internal website the Cast there can access to get them recognition that will show up to their management team.
I would think getting a hand written note would be nice. Rather than an un-personal email.

Forget the candy. They aren't 4 year olds and who takes candy from strangers?

There is already a mechanism in place to recognize CMs.Go to any GR and ask for a guest comment card. These go to the CMs manager and become part of their file. They can also help a lot with their annual reviews. The notes are shared with the CM, so he/she will see it.

This ^^^^^^^^^ is the best way and as a side note if you do wish to write a hand note. It would be addressed to a "GEM" Guest Experience Manager. Too often people rush to complain but very little energy is put into compliments. 😟

If addressed correctly the manager would be aware. I still think a note is more personable.

I'm truly curious, what do you expect a cast member to do with said hand written note? I have a feeling those would be tossed quicker when they are working since there really isn't a place to put that kind of stuff. Also, why do you think you could get it to the manager as well?

Seriously they have it in place that you can go to guest services and relay your experience. You can write in via e-mail as well. While you think a personal note is nice, it really won't do the same level of good as making sure it gets to the right people. Giving them kudos will mean more than anything hand written IMO.

Sorry I said anything. Please forget I added my opinion since it seems to be the wrong one.

My idea was to send it to the general mail for that department and telling them about a specific CM. Sorry older person and old school. Emails are far from that. I guess people like you send your Christmas cards and get well cards via email.

I have some letters that guests have written me in my big “Disney box of stuff” box. It was always super nice to get something like that! As others said, you can also go to guest relations to recognize cast and we do get those too. Either way I’m sure the cast member will appreciate it!

I've sent several snail-mail letters commending CMs and commenting on our trips... we usually get at least a phone response thanking us for our input. We've also received letters in reply assuring us that our observations were shared with the CMs, their managers, and the appropriate team members.

Wow, I seemed to push a button there. I was seriously asking. I was also simply just giving advise that doing it via guest services (not digitally even) would go far and quickly. I was thinking you were hoping to hand them a note. Snail mail will work, but I don't know if the person would ever see it truth be told.

Since you were so judgmental though, I do send cards via mail. Not all of us who do use technology *only* use technology.

Lots of cast members love little notes, drawings, stickers... little gifts from guests with no monetary value but are to be treasured. Some guests prepare little envelopes with characters on for servers, that kind of thing... it goes down really well.

Obviously a formal compliment with guest relations mentioning location, time and name, is great as it will be noticed by managers and go on their record, but for basic putting a smile on their faces, little extras are a nice touch. The only thing I'd say leave is candy or food options, as Cast Members can get fired for eating on stage, and with allergy concerns they have to be careful about food they touch, but non-food gifts or tokens from guests will usually be very welcome.
