Pixar Eyeing ‘Knick Knack’

(Hollywood Reporter) -- Can a grumpy snowman find life among the tropical fishes? That’s a question Pixar Animation Studios plans to answer with the summer release of “Finding Nemo.” The Bay Area studio, which won its first Oscar for a computer animated short film, is considering dusting off its classic 1989 short “Knick Knack” and attaching it to the theatrical release of the upcoming father-son underwater adventure “Finding Nemo.” “One of our goals is to have a short film before every Pixar animated feature,” said John Lasseter, Pixar executive vp and “Knick Knack” director. “We kind of alternate between (making) new short films and pulling ones out of the vault that people haven’t seen too much. For ‘Finding Nemo,’ we’re talking about putting ‘Knick Knack’ on the front because a lot of people haven’t seen it.”

I dunno...they have a few short films that they havnt made "public" yet that i feel would be cooler to see than "knick knack" (i know....most people havnt seen that one before..but Me and about a million other people out there have been seeing it for years..we want new stuff)

… And I thought part of the point behind the newer shorts was to experiment/show-off new techniques. I understand the whole “content is king” concept and that if the story is good it should be good but we are talking about something older than Toy Story. I mean, the baby in Tin Toy was something that I think anybody (not just toys) could have nightmares about and that is newer, isn’t it?

lol, hey guys, I'm sure the'll have a million oppertunities to show off all their newer stuff. Actually, I think it would be cool for Pixar to release a lot of their shorts on home video/DVD.

The song was original and voiced by ONE MAN (Bobby McFerrin) - that's right, all of those voices by one person!

Might I add Disney gave the short a change from the original...I'll give a hint - making the mermaid more family-friendly.

I saw that short this weekend when I saw the movie I think it was the best short they have done so far.

Ahh one of the great ironies of life.

Yes it is Bobby McFerrin and the music is great.

I find that kinda funny seeing as she was made up of basically a few spheres and cylindars :)
