First Disney has to master keeping the former ROA dry before building can commence 101Has Disney communicated a timeline for either land yet? I have 2028 in my head for Cars but not sure if that’s just made up.

Just as others had to do at a number of construction sites in Florida or anywhere when it rains. In some cases, it was future ponds they even had to drain. If they hadn’t pumped it out SEVERAL times already, yeah, it could’ve…
I would hope that starts now since contractors will bill for work performed at the end of this month and Disney would start cutting checks for it after oct 1. Wishful thinking! My gut feeling is that after the new fiscal year begins on October 1, these projects are going to move quickly
They missed the mess of utilities behind Main Street, USA and had to cancel the Main Street Theater. Something similar seems to have happened with the Monsters Inc coaster. They miss plenty and it’s often because they are so big.
Go visit some job sites. Contractors making questionable decisions isn’t a completely baseless stereotype. They also don’t make the design decisions.
I'm getting off topic so apologies, but I can't help myself - records of quite legitimately all underground utilities pre 2000 are absolute garbage. Even if you have drawings from the original project, you won't have true as-builts that show the actual installed condition so it's guesswork confirming where the utilities actually are (not factoring in any small patchwork changes that have happened through the years). So contractors (like my company) get the pleasure of grappling with 50 years of unknown work underground. that are near impossible to fully identify until you're onsite. They missed the mess of utilities behind Main Street, USA and had to cancel the Main Street Theater. Yes, off topic, so quickly, based on top tier insider scoop:I'm getting off topic so apologies, but I can't help myself - records of quite legitimately all underground utilities pre 2000 are absolute garbage. Second, I thought Main Street Theater was cancelled for other reasons too - ops/corporate issues with losing that space it would've occupied? parking etc?
And finally, what's being speculated here about the Monsters Inc construction? Haven't heard or seen any delays or issues there?
surprised I never saw anything about "underground utilities" nixing the MST. So that area will be a parking lot forever? Not that I'm complaining, because I wasn't looking forward to what's left of "Center Street" being destroyed (still upset about West-Center-Street although that's almost a quarter century ago lol). It still doesn't make sense to me b/c Tomorrowland theater was there for decades...why can't they just put that back if they need an extra entertainment venue....was "underground utilities the reason for its closure in the first place?" All my curiosity if nothing else lol. Disney just seemed to never mention MST again after that D23 and hoped we'd just forget about it (like so many other since-axed D23 announcements--this isn't off-topic imo ... we're still talking about new construction over 1969-70 infrastructure).Yes, off topic, so quickly, based on top tier insider scoop:
Main Street Theater issue was underground utilities. Concerns of losing space for other reasons were just people's guesswork.
Monstropolis gravity building is also moved further into the parking lot because of underground utilities.
The Galaxy Palace Theater, while lost capacity, wasn’t much more than some benches under a shade structure. It wasn’t a real building. The Main Street Theater was also going to be a bit more south and west, so it wasn’t in exactly the same place.surprised I never saw anything about "underground utilities" nixing the MST. yes to all...but I guess my curiosity is why close GPT? (thanks for reminding me of the name!) Was it in anticipation of building MST (like they leveled 20K in 2004 in anticipation of New Fantasyland which wasn't announced 'til years later)? If so, that's why I proposed "rebuilding" GPT...it WAS little more than a stage and metallic benches (I don't remember much shade there lol)...The Galaxy Palace Theater, while lost capacity, wasn’t much more than some benches under a shade structure. It’s also not really the same as this project. There are some utilities under the river bed but not much.
Disney doesn’t plan that far ahead. The submarine lagoon was filled in so they didn’t have to keep maintaining the lagoon and building. Galaxy Palace Theater was removed for more back of house parking.yes to all...but I guess my curiosity is why close GPT? (thanks for reminding me of the name!) They were planning to eventually/ultimately do something. Otherwise, why keep one or two of the back walls of the 20K showbuilding (now part of Little Mermaid) after demolishing everything else ?Disney doesn’t plan that far ahead. Yeah, they just never had enough financial support or a good enough idea for executives that could get a green light until the late 2000s. They just knew that that it would be better to let the ground rest after being waterlogged for 25 years and reduce maintenance costs dramatically, then just have to deal with a lagoon that people questioned every time they walked by.They were planning to eventually/ultimately do something.
