So I was on a blog earlier checking out the progress of Pleasure Islands construction and noticed that Lombard Promenade is still standing and it also looks like it will be staying and used in the future for Disney Springs.

Anyway I have a question! Besides being used as a pathway to avoid the traffic on PI and a way for guests to get to the West Side without having to pay or be of age on the Island "What else was Lombards Promenade used for?"

Are you sure? Because this construction photo shows it's gone and all that's left was a hill..

And here's the original plaque that explains about Lombard St..

But, to answer your question...It's just for design..

Essentially it was the wheelchair ramp to get from the lower patio area to the main upper plaza without going all the way around Mannequins.

I'm wondering if the OP was thinking of the old bypass walkway they built at water-level that went through the space between PI and Planet Hollywood. It cut off a little bit of the walk between the PI main entrance and the West Side, but it was kinda dark and secluded and not well marked as to where it went. That walkway was blocked off (and possibly removed) quite a while ago (at the very least it disappeared by the time they rebuilt the PI-to-West Side bridge).

I have seen that entrance and it is blocked off...There was a bridge that went over the water but, I think it was removed a few years ago..

Yeah I was thinking about the path and that whole back area but as I can see from the picture above it looks like it has been removed.
