Pirates!

If anyone remembers the old PC classic game "Pirates!" then I have good news. Sid Meier went back and updated one of his best games ever and the result is a fantastic game that is just so much fun to play that I haven't noticed the time since I started playing earlier tonight. Easy to understand controls, small learning curve and great gameplay combine to make this easily one of my favorite games. The only thing about it that I have found to be annoying is when you try to get the favor of one of the Governor's daughters, she sometimes wants to go to the Ball with you, so you have to dance well in order to win her affection. But it's not annoying enough to make me not want to play and you can get items to help you with the dance, so it's not that bad. Anyone else played this yet?

Atari produced this version. The original was published by Microprose. I don't know if there is a demo. I didn't see one at the website, but it doesn't mean one doesn't exist. Really, though, it is a great game and I'm having even more fun with this version than I did with the original, which I used to play all the time.
