Disney Online has announced that it will unveil the first images and a playable version of Pirates of the Caribbean Online at E3.

The never before seen game will make its debut at E3 which begins on May 10. The massively multiplayer online role-playing game is slated for release in 2007 and is based on the film franchise. Players will be able to experience the world captured on the big screen, interacting with Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann and other characters from the movie franchise.

Players will embark on quests for treasure as you seek to become the Caribbean's most legendary pirate. Create your own custom character using hundreds of customisation options, form a crew and then set sail on an epic adventure. On your journeys you will learn new skills from Jack Sparrow, hunt for buried treasure, battle undead forces and face off against enemies from the movies.

The game is in development by the Walt Disney Internet Group's VR Studio and is designed to appeal to a broad audience. A monthly subscription will be required to play the game. Expect more on the game from May 10.

i hope they don't limit it to just the films, i think they have a tremendous opportunity to recreate all the scenes from the attraction in a virtual form

So far I have yet to hear much about tis, although I'm very interested to see how they plan on topping the beautifully rendered scenes from Kingdom Hearts II... Not to mention Disney is taking a big gamble on such an unstable area of gaming. Right now World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XI are the leading population holders on MMORPGs, in fact, they've managed to break smaller games like Matrix, EQ, Guild Wars (although GW is still popular for not having a monthly subscription fee), Star Wars..and even eliminated certain MMORPGs before they were even released, like LOTR.

WOW and EQ2 had nothing to do with the slow death of Star Wars galaxies, SOE did that with their NGE!

and now SOE has it's claws into vanguard and it is not even out yet!
Too bad, It looks like it is going to be a good game, but SOE killed my favorite game SWG and I wont give SOE one red cent!:(

There are a few MMO's I am waiting for that look like they are going to be awesome!
They are Dark and light, Heroes Journey, Pirates of the Burning sea, Sigonyth: Desert Eternity, Frontier 1859 and I am waiting to see what this new Disney's pirates of the Caribbean will be like!:D

Unfotunately I'm too busy with end-game content in World of Warcraft to switch to many new games...but I still keep in touch with what's new. I was extremely excited about RF Online, but unfortunately it's another stunningly beautiful game with major Developer flaws. If only they could make a gorgeous game with good content.

When it goes into Beta I'll be among the first to apply, this looks cool. I'm looking into beta for POTBS and POTCO.
That's cool, I might think about beta, but right now I have my sites on Dark and light :D
