Saw this today on Yahoo's main page. Thought it was pretty neat. As far as I could tell (there's not much information) these are computer mock-ups of a home theater package this company intends to sell.

Too bad it was just drawings. I love Star Wars but if the Pirates one were real I would just that over the Star Wars one pictured from Yoda any day.

Love em both. It you have the space and the cash for one, i'm sure you could remodel and do the other in a few years. . . .just to keep things fresh:king::lol:

My friend has a theater in his house that looks like it came out of the 30's and it cost 70k when it was all said and done.

:ROFLOL: Really? I know it was expensive but darn.
When you start going super high end the numbers get crazy. One particular house I did the engineering for back in 2000 had over $120k just in A/V equipment. It would not surprise me one bit if the finished project cost close to $200k. Of course the house itself was around $8 million so a $200k theater would have been like a normal person like you or I upgrading to maple cabinets.

Ugh, except for those posters! No way a real Star Wars fan designed that one, LOL. They couldn't have picked worse - The Clone Wars film (TV show is quite good, though) and the Special Edition version posters?

A real Star Wars fan would have a protein spill before they even got to the seat. ;)

In all seriousness, I'd take the Batcave one first - only because the Star Wars one isn't terribly Star Warsy to me, except for the figures.

There are actually a few Star Wars ones out there and I was unable to find my favorite which looked like it was the command deck of a Star Destroyer.

I used to spec and design these things for a living. The speakers in your Star Wars theater (the fronts only) used to run about 50,000 grand for the pair if I recall correctly (Meridian DSP8000), the backs and surrounds, DSP7000 were about 20,000 a pair, I think. The processor and DVD player were 25,000 a piece. Of course, this was about 5 years since I had worked with that product line, But they can get pricey, the last big job I did had a 250,000 projector going into it.

A proper theatre needs the correct wall, floor and ceiling treatments as well as seating and general architecture.

Bright colors, hard reflective surfaces, distracting themes, etc...are all the absolute worst things you could use.

Those pics would be great man caves/geek rooms but terrible theatre choices.

I agree with you, maybe a room like that can also be the lobby to your theater.
