On Entertainment Tonight, they were interviewing Jerry Bruckheimer, and they asked him about potential POC sequels. He said there will definatley be a #2, and if Johnny would sign on, a #3!

I also have heard the same rumors, doing it like Back To The Future Parts II and III and The Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions. I don't know about it really, i'd sure love two PotC movies like that, but wouldn't it be better if they waited a year or so for number 3? That way they could make it to its full potential, as that will be the last one.

Exactly...To much of a good thing to soon is bad.

I think as long as they gave about a year apart in the release dates, that would be ok. that was the cool thing about LOTR, we knew that once a year, we got a movie.

Yes, BTTF and LOTR movies turned out great, but then again, the LOTR movies were filmed over much time, and only one came out per year, giving them much time to fix some things. The Matrix Revolutions came out 6 months after The Matrix Reloaded, opened with $48 million in its first week, and it's second week totals were a 66% drop from the first week. After that, it just continued to fall. BTTF Part III opened 6 months after Part II also, but couldn't match the success of the first two, and the story wasn't as great as the other two as well, even though it was a great movie. We wouldn't want to see something like that with Pirates. I say if they want to do 2 sequels, number 3 should be released at least a year after the 2nd.

I think that's probably because they rushed it. They probably deleted alot of scenes that put some characters to a minnimum and important parts that were good for the story. I'm sure they won't rush this one.

I heard somewhere that they were planning on releasing 2 in May of '06, followed by 3 around Christmas.

I don't mind filming them together, just release them a year apart.

The idea of a trilogy sounds intriguing, but I hope this isn't another example of the studio beating a horse to death and making it into a pair of boots that get thrown in the reject bin. In order for this to succeed, the storylines have better be good.

There will be a sequel in the future. But filming them at the same time saves time and money. Something Disney needs to conserve as much as possible. But putting the movies on the market within close proximity eg. say a couple weeks. There are going to be some real problems. I think they should pull a LOTR, just put the third movie out in say half a year. Then we have some time to let #2 sink in.
