Well, with all the hustling talk about PotC 2, I thought i'd create this little thread for discussion.

Here's some info i've found on various sites-

Signed on for at least one more sequel are producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Gore Verbinski, writers Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot (who are still working on the script) and actors Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom and actress Keira Knightley.

There's some talk about doing back-to-back sequels, sort of like The Matrix has done and Back To The Future did.

According to Orlando Bloom at the Return of the King premire, shooting might not begin until January 2005!

And here's a nice rumor i've read about-
The name for the sequel of PotC could possibly be Pirates of the Caribbean: Treasure of the Lost Abyss. The Abyss was the first pirate ship in the Caribbean, BTW.

Anyone know more info?

I think you've summed up everything out there very nicely. :)

I'd just like to comment on the story. I don't know any details, but the RUMORED name of POTC: Treasure of the Lost Abyss is very interesting to say the least. My main concern with a POTC sequel is just rehashing the first movie, like Barbossa comes back to life somehow and Sparrow and Barbossa fight over claim of the Black Pearl again. But this new name shows a lot of promise that the writers are seriously considering an entirely new storyline that would simply re-use some of the characters from the 1st movie. It sounds like Sparrow and Turner, along with Elizabeth maybe, might be on a quest aboard the Black Pearl to find the lost treasures from the 1st Caribbean Pirate ship, The Lost Abyss. Of course, some type of problems/curses may arise in discovery or upon discovery of the ship and its treasures. Sounds promising.

WOW! Thats great!!! I'm glad they have the same actors, writers, and Gore as director! They all did a wonderful job with the first movie. I hope the second one is even better !!

Its a shame it won't begin shooting for another Year!!! Hopefully it will be out by 2006.....

If anyone has more information on this movie please inform us

The idea of Barbossa or some of the other pirates coming back might not be that far-fetched of an idea. After the credits, the monkey grabs one of the coins and becomes a skeleton again. I'm wondering if that perhaps is a clue as to what will happen next...

If you watch one of the cut scenes. The lid to the chest shuts by itself with Jack and Will standing there.

If they had left that scene in the movie, followed by the monkey getting a piece of the gold, then I would believe this would be a leading plot idea. It might still be.

I bought the 2-disc set this afternoon, and after watching it again my theory seems even more founded.

Bootstrap Bill IS STILL ALIVE!!!

Think about it... to took a coin to send to William, which would have cursed him. That being said, he was cursed when he was tied to the canon by Barbossa which means he couldn't have died. That was over 8 years before the first movie. It is very concievable that he escaped and made it to land.

I'm expected him to show up some how in the next movies.

Yup, I mentioned that too, in another thread. :) I wholeheartedly agree with ya!
