Pirates League?

No birth certificate needed . Is the child under 3? It may be scary for them as some of the cast memebers have their faces painted like skeletons. My son was in there at 2 1/2 and was made up to look like Jake of Jake and the Neverland Pirates. My 3 year old had a great time I guess the only time they may question is if you are trying to have your baby made up like a pirate. They also may no have accessoies appropriate for children under 3 in term of costumes or choking hazzards.
Thanks! My godson will be 2 3/4 and he loves Jake. Infact, he walks around talking like a pirate all the time. This will be perfect for him!

My pleasure, My son ended up looking like a Jonas brother when they were done with him. It is a fun experience. after they are made up they take the kid(s) into a secret treasure room for photos. They also receive a sash and a sword a necklace with a gold dabloon on it

I also think that the over 3 restriction might be due to children being able to sit still long enough for the process.

I agree with melmood, it's a very long process, eyes closed for extended periods while putting on makeup and lots of waiting for your turn. I really wouldn't recommend it for a child under 3. It took much longer, well over 2 hours, than we expected. That was once we were inside. We waited about 45 minutes to get in. While we enjoyed it our son was 8 at the time and we were attending the Halloween party that night so it was his costume. If I had know it would take so much time I would not have done it. Many other more fun ways to spend in the park. Also within an hour he was complaining about how scratchy the makeup was and hot. If your son likes Captain Jack Sparrow, there is a pirate show outside the ride several times a day which is great. Lots of Jack and interaction with the kids. Jack is not even in the pirates league unless something changed since we went a few years ago. Just his "crew".
That's a bummer. It really is a fun experience for the kids and it's priced pretty reasonably for the amount of time involved and the stuff that comes with it.
Our son has done it once, the only time we could get in was 5:30pm on a Sunday and they closed at 7:00. So he didn't get to wear his too long but he loved it. I would highly recommend it for anyone considering it.

We did not have one and were just walking past and my kids said wow that looks fun. I think they keep standby spots open will not hurt to try.Thanks for all of the info...turns out we couldn't get a reservation anyway

What options are there for the face? My son hates anything on his face, like fake hair. He has been Einstein and A. Lincoln and struggled with the face hair for school. Also any other advice for the Pirate League? My son is 7 and going the first time in Oct. Thanks!

Keep calling for a reservation! We could not get one when we first tried, but after about 10 tries we were able to, and it was one of my sons all time favorite Disney experiences.

You really can choose how minimal or elaborate you want the makeup to be. The facial hair is just painted with a stipple brush, so no fake hair here. You could probably omit the paint all together, but not sure the experience will be worth it if that's the case. Hope this is helpful!
There's no fake hair on the face, it's all makeup. I'm sure they'd probably accomodate you if your requested they do less. I believe you can either choose a traditional pirate or Jake (and the Neverland Pirates). I think if you chose a traditional pirate they had a few different faces to choose from. Pretty sure Jake had minimal makeup (pretty sure it does have fake hair but it's out the top of the bandana, not on the face).
Would it maybe help if you showed your son some pictures before the trip? If he knows how "cool" it'll look maybe he'll be more up for it.

My two loved this experience. I agree that a child under 3 may get a bit frustrated with the length of time they need to sit there, but I think the Jake experience is a bit different to the full on pirate one. Just one word of warning - the make up around the eyes does not come off easily! We. Have some very funny photos of these two the day after with eyes that looked like they had eyeliner on them

Worth It! (Did take us like 90 minutes including not getting called in about 30 past our appt.)

edit- we were there Sat 8/3 and stopped for my son to say hello - they offered a walk in. Park seemed medium/slow for a summer Sat. Might be worth a try.
