Hey y'all I'm getting ou to Disneyland for the first time this summer and I was hoping to be there around the time the new movie premired.
It is said to be set for June 24th at the park like last time and I was hoping I could be there. Do y'all know if they will close the park for the preimer or will they let people maybe buy tickets for the event.

Any help would be much appreciated.

When they had the first Pirates movie premiere at Disneyland in the summer of '03 it shut down half the park, and everyone who wasn't invited was kicked out at 6:00pm. Only the invited celebrity guests and Hollywood trashy hangers on were allowed in to the party and premiere. It was quite scandalous and caused a lot of headaches. Do a search on Laughingplace or Mouseplanet for the message board threads where everyone was complaining. They even rounded up the CM's working the party and forced them to wait in a backstage lot while the movie was playing because they didn't want anyone but invited guests to see it; Mouseplanet's David Koenig had a famous column about that part of the scandal as I remember.

But the average person shouldn't expect to get in to the western half of the park the day of the event, much less actually get close to the premiere or party. They'll likely shut down the park and make everyone go to DCA that day instead, which is what they did last time.

If you have a choice, you should probably try to avoid the premiere week at all costs as it could really impact your entire visit.

I'm pretty positive that it won't happen again now that DL is under better management than it was then. If I were Matt Ouimet, I would throw a party for all the cast members waiting back stage or something.

Most of the reliable sources for rumours (miceage, mouseplanet, Lee on these boards, etc.) have pegged it at DL for quite some time now. The film industry is in Southern California, not Central Florida. You and I won't be anywhere in the vicinity.

Cheers.
