New to pin trading (obviously) and I've heard a lot of conflicting opinions on buying from eBay. I really want to get into this, but I want to make sure that I get stuff I can actually trade! Where better to ask? So, experts, would you buy from any of the following sellers?

Seller 1

Seller 2

Seller 3

Seller 4

Thanks a lot for your input!

Hmm.

I've read some dodgy stories about fake pins etc,but I'll leave that for the pin masters as Iam not qualified to give you the correct info, only reason for replying is we have a Disney store in Glasgow,Scotland that sells pins, but we prefer to buy them at WDW. It's like someone asking " oh did you buy that pin in Disney? " eh,no,we got it in a shop in Glasgow "

I have bought from seller #3. Great pricing and very fast shipping. I can't see you having any problems trading the pins. We have now been on two trips where we traded and we had 0 problems.

I wouldn't buy any of the lots where they sell a bunch of fake pins.

In fact, I'm very cautious about regular pins. Made that mistake early on. Got a test track pin that was just so pathetic.

People who actually like the pins aren't the ones those guys are aiming for, though. Those guys are aiming for people who don't care at all about the pins and just want to trade stuff for the pleasure of trading it.

If you just want to buy for the sake of buying and trade for the sake of trading, just buy the cheapest ones.

You won't have any problems trading those pins; the CM lanyards are rife with fakes, too. My kids traded for a certain Figment pin every time they saw it. We ended up with a bunch and when I got home, I noticed that some of them were slightly different. Yup, half were fakes. You would have to be really eagle-eyed to spot the difference if they weren't right next to each other and no CM is going to memorize the slight differences for the thousands of pins. As long as it says Disney on the back, they take it. If the sellers have really good feedback like those do, then you'll be fine.

Check craigslist or look for sellers on eBay selling lanyards from their previous trips. Individual sellers seem less likely to pawn off bogus merch. I bought a lanyard on eBay loaded with 17 pins for our daughter in prep for our trip in October for $27 and all of them were exactly as described. Three non-disney pins but seller disclosed that on their listing. I also bought a complete set of monorail pins for $19, I am not one for the lanyards but going to wear one different monorail on my shirt collar each day.

I agree that buying "lots" of pins on eBay is just asking for trouble.

Once again, buying lots is not asking for trouble. Unless you're looking to start a serious trading collection that you plan on entering the trading community with, Ebay lots are just fine. CM's, from our experiences, don't even look at the pins when trading. If you want to make sure that the pins are legit then your only choice is to buy directly from Disney. Otherwise, lots are just fine.
