Pin Stealing

I noticed on my last trip in April that there were a fair amount of people at pin stations and gift shops stealing pins. They were just putting them in their pockets and walking out of the store or pin area.
Doesn't Disney have some way of stopping these people.
I know you can't catch all of them but I WITNESSED ABOUT A DOZEN OR SO THEFT'S.
Maybe they don't even care and just absorb the losses.

Any thoughts or reason's would be appreciated.:D

I was thinking the same thing.......

I never saw neone steal ne...but it seems pretty obvious to do.....those pins can be valuable in the right persons hand.....and I don't think neone wants to pay 11+$ for a LE one or even 6.50 for the regular.......

THERE JUST PINS PEOPLE!!!

Perhaps Disney rely on customers honesty.......but if you witnessed the thefts are you not condoning it by also doing nothing about it ?

Some major pin collectors/traders (like me :) ) are willing to pay $6.50+ for a pin of any kind. Its our hobby :D . And we enjoy it. lol... PIN STEALERS, BAD BAD BAD!

No I was not condoning it and I did report it ,but the CM was of the opinion that they did not witness it they could not say anything.I can understand their point suppose I was wrong, talk about embarassing. Then again what if they saw it but couldn't prove it either it their word against the customers. It's not like they can search them maybe that's why they refuse to stop anyone.

Just so you know, people, not only pins are taking, but any small items like pens, pencils, keychains... I've witnessed many of those during the times I went as part of a tour group, and those Brazilian teens can be that petty and stupid. :(

When I was in high school, we performed at WDW for the Magical Music Days thing at Christmas. One of the RETARDS in my choral group stole a key chain at one of the shops on Main Street in MK. All of the sudden like an hour later some CM's walked up to him and "took him into custody" or something like that b/c they said that all the stores were heavily covered with surveilance cameras and they caught him. He was then sent home by himself. I'm not sure what ever happened...

If the "cameras" were everywhere and caught him over a key chain, why aren't the cameras catching these mean pin stealers??? Geesh... I thought it would be really hard to steal from Disney???

The camera's aren't everywhere. I've been up in the MK security office several times and the number of cameras (not counting the ones on rides for safety, which are not monitored by security, but rather the OPS personnel) in shops is a LOT lower than people would think. Most of the times when a guest is caught stealing, it is a CM that witnessed it and called it in. Disney Security has a way of getting people to talk... which I don't agree with (sorry.. I enjoy the US constitution)

It is really EASY to steal from Disney... I never have, but I have seen some extremely hard to get things in peoples houses that I know they have not bought (do a quick search on Ebay-Collectibles-Disneyana-Contemporary-Cast Member Exclusives and see what turns up)

Disney also employees a lot of plain clothes security officers to watch for theft. They just look like they are visiting the park. Even most of the CM's don't know who they are.
