Hello all,

For some reason, not sure why, I missed the demolition of the Bates Motel and Bates House at Universal Studios. I guess I just didn't keep up with the "news" back then.

Does anyone know where I can find pictures of the demolition? Or at least some decent pictures of the standing structures prior to demolition?

I'm a big fan of Psycho and all that is Hitchcock and would like to have some images to look back on.

Thanks a bunch,

I don't have pitcures, but I think I know why the demolished the Bates Motel. On January 15, 2003, Universal Studios closed Alfred Hitchcock: The Art of Making Movies to make way for Shrek 4-D. If I could get a confirmation on this, it would be great.

Bates was dismantled long before Hitchcock's went the way of Kong. I may not be sure I think it was removed to make way for Woody Woodpecker's Kid-Zone expansion. The Curious George play area is in the vacinity of where you use to be able to see the legendary landmark. If it wasn't then, it was with the addition of CityWalk and the parking garages, which developed a lot of Universal Blvd, which went by the hotel.

You are all correct.

The outside house was on the path that went to the Hard Rock Cafe prior to IOA in the section that now has Barney, Woody Woodpecker, etc. I think it was taken down as part of the IOA development.

The inside House was part of the Hitchcock 3D Birds/The Art of Making Movies, in the section that showed you how they shot the legendary shower scene! WEE WEE WEE! Cue the rain, scary knife and shower curtain! Which has now made way for the new Shrek 3D.

Unfortunately I don't have any photographs! :(
