I posted a full trip report in the trip reports group with a link to our photos but I didn't even think to provide a link for those that aren't into reading long novels. I'll post a link to all of them to save wdwmagic the space but I wanted to ask a question about this one picture. Was anybody there on New Years Eve that experienced the weather? When we were leaving, I snapped this photo of the Grand Floridian because the palm trees were sideways and there appeared to almost be whitecaps on bay lake. I'm just curious if you were hammered or if it just rained.

Speaking as someone who spent 17 solid hours @ Epcot I can tell you that there was minimal wind at that park. It started to sprinkle around 5:30 (right before they handed out those god aweful horns) and it went back and forth between sprinkling and showers until about 12:15. Then the clouds opened up and Orlando got 4.5" between midnight and 8 the next morning. BTW...I have RoE New Year's videos if anyone is interested.

I was at Epcot as well, and can surely agree with the horns :hammer: . I guess I'm just not used to the rain, if I were to describe it, words like deluge and downpour would work in my book. We didn't even stay for the fireworks--left about 9:30.

Awww...Granted those (*^#%*&^ horns were enough to make me want to leave, we stayed for the duration. (I AM from Oregon after all...I'm used to it.) The REAL deluge didn't start rolling through until at least 10-11 (IMHO). I also have NEVER seen the lagoon so empty for the fireworks. The four of us that stuck around sat down...in chairs...on the lagoon fenceline...20 minutes before the display started. As soon as they made the 15 minute announcement people started coming out but we were already entrenched so I have front row video footage.

There was a problem with guests purposely plugging drains around UoE/WoL/M:S...The walk from M:S to WoL was under 3-4 inches of water and the little sunken sitting area in that same place was under almost 2 1/2 feet of water. The poor attractions manager pulled out almost a full roll of paper towels from the respective drains and tromped into WoL with his pants rolled up to his knees, carrying his shoes and socks, dripping wet. I felt so sorry for him.

Oregon. . .that explains it. I look forward to seeing that video! I actually thought drainage was poor all over. My pants were soaked to the knee just walking from America to the parking lot--albeit I was walking fast.

Thanks for the offer of the video. I would love to see it! Let me know if you need a means of uploading it. I don't have a fast server but it isn't bad. The only thing I'm a bit bummed about is missing the oportunity to see ROE with no crowd! I would have sat there drenched and been perfectly happy. I still can't believe they handed out horns though.:brick: Maybe at MGM or IOA or something but Epcot? Anybody know if that stage contraption in front of the fountain was the reason for it not operating through the entire holiday week? Besides my bus issue (detailed in my trip report), that was my only other dissapointment. Other than that, our trip was awesome! Wow did we get lucky on the rain though! 4.5 inches would cause our area to screech to a halt

First I've gotta steal the Mini DV camera and cables so I can dump it on my computer then I'll burn it and hopefully someone who's not stuck on a dial-up (like myself) can upload it. We were there the 30th-3rd & 7th-11th and the fountain wasn't going the entire time. I think they may have cut it because of the drought Florida was in for so long. I know that's why they turned off the cool sphere thing in Tomorrowland that you could roll on the water cushion. That's just a guess. My dad's tampering with all the videos and stills this week and I'll steal all the pictures and everything else from him as soon as I can to get stuff posted.

We also recorded almost the entire Hoop-dee-doo revue if anyone is interested. :)

BTW...Has anyone else noticed that it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to buy MINI DV tapes @ MK? I searched for 30 minutes and couldn't find them anywhere. Later.

Those horns alone would make you want to leave but once I got my horns and hats I just started blowing them with everyone else.
