Photpass Photos Borders

Has anyone been to the world lately and noticed they are now adding borders to most ride photos with no ability to remove them. Just noticed this started to happen last week.

Yes, I've noticed and for me it's super annoying. I like to zoom in on my family's row (or 2 rows) and then add a border. But with these pre-installed borders if you zoom in it totally screws up the picture. I certainly won't be spending money on any photopass pictures with this pre-installed border!

Can anyone share an example?

You can see that I selected “no border” even though there is a border. I’ve noticed this on several different rides as well. Personally it doesn’t bother me but I can see how annoying that would be.

Instead of totally taking away your choice as to how your photopass picture looks, they should have just included these new borders in the "Borders" tab in photo editing. No offense to anyone out there, but I prefer not to have strangers in my photopass photos. Which is why I liked to be able to zoom in the picture to just one or two rows, and then add a border.

I'm guessing they are more limited in how many borders they can include in the app. Otherwise I can't think of a single reason they offer less now than they did before. And don't get me started on the functionality of that system. It's so convoluted that you have to add a border, then send it to yourself and save the photo, instead of being able to save it right there to your account. So clunky.

I actually liked the border they added to one of our photos. Too bad it was only put on one photo where one of us had their eyes closed.

I prefer to do all my photo editing via the website (and not the app). If you use the website, you can save the edited photos directly to your account.

Sorry, my mistake. This is a WDW thread. I was talking about DLR Photopass. Be happy you can edit on the website. It's so strange that the DLR version only allows borders on the app.

That is strange. I'll have to remember that, I'm planning a visit to DLR this fall.

You guys should write in and let them know. Let your voices be heard.

I actually did that back in October, that's when I noticed they added a pre-installed border to the MK PoC photo so I decided to write in a complaint. But obviously they didn't agree with my opinion, because instead of removing it from PoC they are now adding it to every ride in all four parks.

To make it even stranger, the edit button is available on the ios app, but not the android version.

I probably should. It just seems so convoluted that I assumed it's a limitation of their tech, and not an actual choice. But if they can do it in WDW...... and they used to do it in DLR......

Wow, you can't photo edit at all in Android? That would definitely be a problem for me. Maybe they'll fix that by the time I visit this fall.

I may be in the minority in saying this but I think the test track looks pretty good. Tower doesn’t look that bad either. Of course I may change my mind when I see my own photos in the borders. Also, they should have the option of having it or not in the photos that we have paid for.

I agree that the new borders themselves look good. But my issue is that you can't do any crop/zoom editing with these pre-installed borders. Once you see your own photos with the borders, try zooming in to see just one or two rows and then you'll understand what I mean. Which is why I think they should keep these new borders, BUT the key is to make them optional to add/remove as part of the editing process (just like you can do with all the other borders located in the Borders tab).

We had to call photopass support last year and inquire about when they were going to add the 2017 year stickers and frames. It was February and they still only had the 2016 available. I will say that they said they were coming and they extended our expiration date for free while we waited for them. I think they were available that next week.

As a software person, it seems ridiculous that they would not already have the graphics available and in position by January 1st. It's not like the new year is a surprise to anyone.
